iBike protector

Post by Old Clown »

I've successfully installed the iBike on my Full Suspension XC MTB, using a stem mount, and am getting consistent readings. However, flipping the bike over, w/ seat & bars touching the ground, I noticed that, well, it's the iBike, & not the bars that touch the ground  And now, of course, I'm a bit worried. I don't go into super gnarly descents, preferring MTB Marathon races. But every now & then I have a fall of some sort, & I would hate to ruin my precious iBike. So here's my question: has anyone attempted making an iBike protector? I'm thinking of getting a sort of hoop welded, that can be attached to the handlebars, and is tightened on w/ a couple of screws. Maybe John has already got something in the pipeline? Maybe out of CARBON FIBER 8-) !! Has anyone else attempted something along this line?

This question isn't related to the protection...I'm just wondering if your iBike is far enough forward on the stem. It seems to be a tad too far back based on what I remember about the installation/set-up.

Yes, I was sort of suspecting that  ... How far back from the front of the stem should it be? Guess I was trying to leave it the least exposed possible :?
