Another Trainer Question

Post by iRacing.com »

Since the Gen III holds two separate profiles, can each profile be uploaded with a different trainer?

Example, Home trainer is a Genetic Road Machine, and Bike Shop uses CycleOps Fluid ^2 when I go there. Can I have profile use the Kinetic info and switch the unit to Profile 2 and download the CycleOps and profile 2 will use that one? It's certainly easier to do it that way instead of remembering to hook the unit to the PC and change the trainer data in the unit.

Thanks in Advance.

Unfortunately, no. There is only one place in the iBike to store the trainer power curves.

Can we consider this a feature request? :D

I would MUCH prefer to see more Profiles before more trainers. I have a road bike, TT bike, cyclocross bike, and a mountain bike. There are probably a lot more iBikers with 3 or more bikes than there are using 2 or more trainers. Just sayin'. ;)

Perhaps your mis-understanding the feature. Having more Profiles sure, would be all for that, and the ability to attach different trainers to each profile. So if riding at home on Kinetic, I'd use Profile 1, if using Cyclops at LBS Profile 2.

The idea of more profiles is interesting - but how far away is your computer to upload the bike or trainer of the day?

Maybe 2 trainers and at most 3 bike profiles...

However - if this chews up valuable memory space on the ibike that is better suited for new features - I'll take the new features. After all, I can only ride one trainer or one bike at a time.

I definitely understoond your request. I just flashed back to when I asked for 4 Profiles and was told there's not enough memory in the current unit. If there was room for one or the other (2nd trainer or 3rd Profile), I would much prefer another Profile. And I'm guessing there are more people with 3 bikes than 2 trainers. I only use 1 trainer -- mostly in my basement, also haul it around to races to warm up. But I only need one trainer in the iBike because I only ride one trainer. I don't know for sure how many others ride multiple trainers, but lots of people ride multiple bikes.

I realize it is easy to change Profiles when the iBike is attached to the computer. But I often don't think about it -- I analyze a ride, then put it away. Or I may think about it but end up changing my mind about what bike I'm riding the next day. It doesn't happen all the time, but it is supremely irritating to hop on the bike ready to ride and then realize the power readings will be off the entire ride because the Profile for that bike isn't in the iBike.

I still really like my iBike! I would like it even more if it could store a 3rd profile!

I am happy with 1 profile.
I really hate when I forget to change the profile from #1 to #2 and then ride with the wrong profile for the next 4 hours. So let’s get rid of the extra profiles and dream up some really cool features.

I bought an Ibike for each bike so the extra profiles are useless for me.
