Lowe's TT File Look Ok?

Post by doofus »

The intervals didn't save (my doofus error, I guess). snipped and clipped the ride file to get the TT part (22:48). Same setup as coastdowns -- jersey and shorts, regular helmet, 32h wheels, no shoe covers. Does the wind and everything else look ok for Lowe's Motor Speedway? Anything look off in the file?

TT in one file, whole sheebang in another. Had to coast for a second when a cat got in my way near the finish -- do I use the NP as the TT avg, or the Avg Power? HR was right at threshold the whole way...

Looks good to me. Were you around other people at the start (I know it can get crowded there).

In a time trial, you always want to key off average power. In theory though, average power and NP should be the same for a time trial. You difference came when you started off really hot, 430 watts for the first 1:30. That match probably cost you a bit later in the race.

If you look at your NP after that section it's only one watt difference than your average power. I know it can be tough to scale back on the first lap, but I think had you done that you would have been faster.

boyd, that's the fourth lowe's TT I've done, and the fourth time I've overcooked the first lap.

Its nice to be able to see how badly I overdid it, trying to get out of turn one and up to 29+ on the backstretch on the first lap. I see that next time, its a slow build to turn two, not a JATO takeoff.... Come to think of it, I was awlways overcooking the first 3-4 minutes of those computrainer TTs at Chad's.

I'm really happy with the iBike. Reliable data for not a lot of bucks.

Next time, start a user interval for your time trial (yeah, you'll have to wait til next April). But then you can see current watts and average watts on the same screen and you won't be at 120% of threshold after the first minute and a half.

Doofus, since I just replied to a different post I feel compelled to post a somewhat off topic response. I'm jealous. I wish we had a track/velodrome/good-piece-of-oval-pavement where mean TTs could take place. We travel chunks of rural pavement measuring one mile on each vertex -- four miles in circumference. Cool.
