John,
can you check please?
today i rode in a square shape circuit with winds in all directions. As you told is very hard to determine the winds when riding, i said/thought nothing and waited to come home and check...
all time tailwinds... hard to beleave as the feelings (not scientific) ...and how about the place? is it a 5 kilometer " square shape" circuit.
thanks!!

Re: Allways tailwind in a 5k square shaped route?
When riding in closed loops wind speed should, on average, be the same as bike speed.
HOWEVER: the above statement assumes that ground wind conditions are not changing.
I picked a section of the ride, two loops, from mile 9 to 15. I chose this section because, by eye, it did not appear that wind conditions were changing.
On these two loops your wind speed was exactly the same as your bike speed. So, I conclude your PP is properly calibrated.
If you look at the entire ride file you'll see that wind conditions do change during the ride. In general it's not a good idea to use the data from a big ride to adjust settings.

Re: Allways tailwind in a 5k square shaped route?
John, is clear but.... in the speed effort vs real menu, the winds are always taildwinds... i understand that the average should be 0, where sometimes be tailwinds and sometimes headwinds. It always be in that way in my years using the PP...not in this file.
Re: Allways tailwind in a 5k square shaped route?
I can only comment on the data I am provided...
Winds will NOT always be net zero, even on a closed loop; in nature the wind is changing constantly.
Remember too that, if you're riding on public roads, or in a group, cars and other riders will tend to cause net tailwinds.
