Hi PP team (or John)

Hello from Singapore! It surprised me that I received my PPV3 in three days while we are all in this COVID19 situation. Lucky in Singapore we are still allowed to ride and weather here allows riding almost everyday.

Being a new user of your PP v3, I have spent most of my free time researching the PP and ISAAC . Really like the product but I have a few questions as well. Hope you can help. Thank you.

1) cal ride: the instruction said needs out and back cali ride but the 6min min youtube video shows one way 90 sec ride will do. For best accuracy, which one should we choose? I have done 3 cali rides, but the wind factor I got seems are all different. I have attached the file and can you advise the best practice to cal ride?

2) Again on the cal ride, without initiate a device set up in ISAAC, can we initiate a cal ride from PP itself?

3) I realized any small tilt will results the power readings to go off but the PP will auto adjust and normalize the readings. But when I use ISAAC to analyze the data, is there a way for the to adjust the off power readings period back to normal as well?

4) as for point 3), does it mean best practice to mount the PP is screw it tight and never take it off so that the position stays the same?

1) I looked at all your cal rides. It looks like your speed sensor is slightly noisy; are you using a Wahoo sensor?

Wind scaling is somewhat different on the rides, most likely because your cal ride speeds were on the slower side (around 12 mph). That's OK, but faster bike speeds would result in more consistent readings.

I would use the last cal ride (so you don't have to do another one!)

2) Whenever you do a sensor pairing, PP will be forced into cal ride mode

3) Since these are cal rides, the ride data is, by definition, uncalibrated until the ride ends! Do a normal bike ride and post that ride here. Cal ride data should not be analyzed using Isaac.

4) I keep my PP permanently attached to my bike. It makes the startup procedure for new rides easier. But, there is no harm taking it off. Just be careful to reattach it in the same position.

1) I'm using garmin magnet-less speed and cadence sensors. I do realize that my speed will show 0 in my garmin 520 in certain consistent stretch of flat road while I'm still pedaling hard (I searched but it seems that should only happen to magnet speed sensor). Do you have any experience in this? My 520 is set to stop only when speed goes to 0.

2) To make sure I understand cal ride correctly, do we still need to perform O&B cal ride or straight cal ride will be good for PPV3? Here in Singapore, it is easier for me to find straight road without traffic lights or stop signs so that I can pick up my speed. If it has to be O&B, I have to do it in the park such that turn around at 50W will be easier.

3) I will use the last cal profile to do a ride this afternoon and post data here. (Hope it will not rain as what weather forecast said).

1) Make sure your speed sensor is mounted on your front hub
2) O&B is best, but if you can't do this, try to find a fairly non-windy day, just do a 10KM ride, and post it. I will figure out the profile

Thanks for the reply. I used the cal ride profile did on 15th May. Please see attached for the ride file. Thank you.

Profile of me:
167cm 75kg
with bike all in weight 86kg
bike: merida scultura 400
the hoods: 0km-7km with traffic with stops
the drops: 7km-23km no traffic no stop
the tops: 23km-26.5km light traffic
the hoods: 26.5km - end with traffic and stops

I tried check calibration, again, the wind scale factor in the existing profile seems to be too high. Any advice? I can do one more calibration ride with a faster speed.

Yes, wind is a bit high.

You can correct this with Isaac:

1) Connect your PP to Isaac
2) Open the ride file you attached
3) Select the command Analyze/Check Calibration
4) Once the corrected profile has been created, select the "Send Profile to iBike" button

Your ride file will be corrected and your future rides will have a better-calibrated PP!
