Bad Tilt

Post by spangelsaregreat »

Hi,

Question about how bad tilt works. I use an out front mount that does not have a stop like the Powerpod mount. I fit the power pod then slip a 2mm Allen key into the gap to act as a stop. When I set it up I push the Powerpod backwards to get it level. This allows for the tilt on the out front mount. It is slightly angled upwards to make Garmin screen more visible.

I did a calibration ride which I sent Tom who said it looked good and from what I could see the watts are consistent. The following day I did a ftp ride but the watts were a bit high especially on descents.

The next day I rode to work which is mainly downhill again with high watts. I realised when I got to work I had pushed the Powerpod forwards when I fitted it. I moved it more level by eyeball and the watts were back to normal.

I rode to and from work yesterday and again the watts look good. I used the 2mm Allen key and pushing the Powerpod backwards for fitting it.

I was playing with the bad tilt calibration option last night to try to work out what my ftp should be. I noticed even with the rides where the Powerpod was fitted correctly it amends the watts albeit by a smaller amount.

Firstly how do I apply a bad tilt calibration to my Powerpod? Secondly do I need to apply it anyway given Tom suggested my initial calibration was fine?

I will post up the ibr files shortly.

Regards

Here is the calibration ride for my second bike.

and the ride I did after calibration.

Again the power looks good and reacts as I would expect it to.

This bike is a Giant Propel with RideSense which I know is not recommended or supported. However, it paired fine with the PowerPod and seems to be working well. Don't see any real difference between the way it shows power compared to my other bike that has magnetless Garmin sensors.

Sometimes the RideSense sensors work...sometimes they don't.

In your case, they ARE working, so enjoy!
