First tt, please can someone check

Post by lspringett »

Hi,

had first TT today, PP numbers seem high again, can you guys have a look please. Check calibration shows sig. change.

Only difference from last rides/profile adjust is changed ti disc wheel/tub on back, everything else the same.

Not sure why keeps jumping up? third adjustment on this profile :-(

Thanks

You sent the file that had the check calibration calculation applied to it.

Please send the file, as downloaded from your PP.

Hi,

sorry about that, please see attached.

The strange thing is it says that it used the profile tweaked 3/24/17 but when I go to 'switch profile after ride' and select the same profile it pulls the figure back in-line?

Thanks

I think what is going on is that your PP has to make an enormous slope correction. You'll see that it takes a full 8 minutes for things to sort out to normal.

I suggest you reset this profile in Isaac, then do a new out-and-back cal ride.

I agree that the "Check Calibration" numbers are more correct. Isaac has the benefit of looking at the entire ride file to sort things out; your PP is figuring out things in real time.

After doing a new cal ride please post a subsequent ride file here.

BY THE WAY: make sure you have followed the instructions so that your PP is securely attached to the mount, and is rotated into a locked position.

That's what I was thinking, I make sure it is secure every tine (up against the stop point pushing forward) and use a spirit level against the Powerpod logo but will be careful this time.

Should there be much difference between kit setup? I typically use...

Workout: Standard helmet, kit and 50mm clinchers
Race: Aero helmet, skin suit, disc tub on back and 82mm tub on front

If so is my only option to have 2 profiles saved in issac and load in manually in profile 2 on PP as needed (as run of the same sensor on TT bike).

BTW Road bike set-up and numbers all still seem good when moved over thanks.

Yes I would create two profiles and switch manually between them.

Or you can buy a magnet less speed sensor so pp will switch automatically.

Hi, attached is new calibration ride and then a follow-up workout.

Time Trial position using clinchers setup.

All looking good? number still look a little 'hot' but was some hilly efforts in there.

Thanks

Your Crr is high, but the rest is OK.

Load this into your PP and do another ride.

Hi,

attached ride from today using loaded profile. Hadn't changed anything since last ride, PP still attached from last ride and checked level.

Hows it looking?

There is a 30 min O&B portion from about 20 minutes in which when run through the "check calibration" suggests significant change.

As before, when select "change profile after ride" and leave it on the same profile, it suggest quite a large pull down.

The number seem about right when compared to my other bike and turbo power so maybe there?

This is very close; your PP is mounted in a stable position and your profile factors are correct.

There appears to be a general headwind towards the end of this ride; only you know if this was the case. If so, I think your file is correct.

All of the calibration features you are trying make ASSUMPTIONS about constant wind, short distances, etc. In a long ride such as this, these post-ride corrections are most likely not valid.

So, unless you believe the wind readings are high, I would just leave things alone and "enjoy the ride".
