No power readings

Post by albafar »

Yesterday when I was commuting to work, I woke up all the sensors and went of. Very soon I realized that my Edge 820 didn't show any power readings. And then suddenly it dit and a few seconds later it didn't and then the readings were completely wrong (highs and lows.... Very frustrating of course. At some point suddenly everything appeared to be back to normal with stable and correct power numbers. When I arrived at my job I turned off the Garmin. In the afternoon I turned it on again, woke up the sensors and rode home - without any issues at all but wondering whether it had been a PP or a Garmin issue in the morning.

Back home I uploaded to Isaac and to Garmin Connect. In Isaac there are what appears to be correct power readings (though there are some peaks which I really don't understand...) for the entire ride whereas the Connect file shows all the experienced drop-outs, peaks etc until it stabilizes.

Hence It is quite clearly not a PP issues as the power numbers have been captured what correctly in Isaac. But I was wondering if anyone has experienced similar issues with their head units and may have a suggestion to avoid such.

I've attached a pdf showing both the PP and the Connect curves and also the ride file.

It does appear that your 820 was not working properly. I think I've read in some other places that Garmins some times have reception problems.

Your PP is working just fine, as the ride file proves.
