Last night I rode home from work in the driving rain, this morning when I set out to go back to work the rain had stopped but the wind was at 20+mph from the NNW, even when I was pedaling as hard + fast as I could into the wind, my ground speed was barely in excess of 6-10mph when I was riding directly into the headwind and the dash *should have* been reading at least 250-400 watts, based on past feel. Instead the dash was reading a windspeed relative to the ground (not total) of -14.5 to -8.7 mph as though I had a healthy tailwind and power was reading 0-100 watts.
Prior to today, I had one other very wet ride home and during the rainy ride I'd noticed a slight tendency to treat a headwind as a tailwind, but that was a friday and I didn't ride on the weekend so the bike & iBike had plenty of time to dry out.
Any idea what might be going wrong? I'm always very careful to dry the exterior of the phone booth before taking my iPhone out -- is there anything else I should be careful to do to avoid this problem in future?
Thanks!

Re: Strange wind readings after WET ride
You've bumped in to a phenomenon peculiar to the iBike. If the wind port fills with water then the wind readings can be crazy.
There's two ways to fix it: 1) empty the wind port occasionally during the ride. 2) Purchase a Remote Wind Sensor. This will keep water from entering the port and causing the subsequent problem. We've just started shipping the RWS for the iDash
If you ride frequently in the rain the RWS is a really good solution.
Also, the RWS is a must for TT bike setups.

Re: Strange wind readings after WET ride
I've been hoping for an RWS anyway since I normally commute & tour with a handlebar bag that wreaks havoc on the standard pitot location.
I just checked the store at ibikesports.com and don't see a dash option for the RWS -- how do I order it?
Thanks!

Re: Strange wind readings after WET ride
We will have this up very soon; in the mean time, order the RWS that is on the website, then email us with the subject line "I want the iDash RWS". We will fix your order manually.
