Power greater than 100w without pedaling

Post by abelleira »

Hello!

I have calibrated the powerpod, then I began a ride.

My team: Garmin Edge 1000 with speed sensor in the fron hub, and cadence sensor.

When I stop pedaling in flat terrain, the wattage is set to 0. But on descents, whitout pedaling, I get power values than even exceed 100 watts, only occasionally get zero value for short periods (seconds).

Cadence vs Watts:

I see, alseo, the cadence values are not recorded onto the powerpod.

Where is the PP mounted? Heandlebar? Then wind scaling 1.5 is too high. 1.4 is better.

Yes, in the handlebar.

I don't know if it would make any difference but your cadence sensor is not paired with PowerPod. Perhaps if you are able to pair a cadence sensor with PP, it will only show 0 watt when you're not pedaling.

As you can see, the carmín cadence sensor is funtioning ok, but powerpod its not pairing with it (with speed sensor and hrm, yes). I don't kwon how to forcé powerpod to pairing.

This is probably a question for John. Initially, i was led to believe it's possible to pair PP with a DFPM (Direct Force Power Meter) but that's not possible. I have a Garmin cadence sensor at home and also another Wahoo cadence/speed sensor combo. I'll see if i can pair with any of them.

And, the next values, are normal?

From the Isaac manual: "your Crr should be around 0.004, but your profile’s Crr is .0060 (too
high)"

And mine is 0,00539, but I can't change it in the Advanced Settings (is grayed)

I managed to pair with a Garmin cadence sensor. It took several tries before i finally got it to work.

Attempt #1: PP already has a known profile saved in Profile #1. I woke up the Garmin speed sensor and cadence sensor and then I pressed and hold the PP button for 4 seconds to enable pairing mode. PP did not see the cadence sensor.

Attempt #2: Erased all profiles in PP. I enabled pairing mode in PP but PP won't exit pairing mode, as indicated by the blinking green LED that never turned solid.

Attempt #3: Did a factor reset in Isaac. But i was unable to turn on or enable pairing mode in PP.

Attempt #4: I did another factory reset by pressing and holding the PP button for 10 seconds. After this, i was able to pair both the speed and cadence sensors.

Thanks, I will try it.

PP also has no problem pairing with the Wahoo combo cadence/speed sensor. Though interestingly, i had assumed it would save this sensor in a different profile than Profile #1 because Profile #1 was occupied by another speed sensor (the one i paired earlier with the Garmin speed sensor and cadence sensor). Instead, PP saved this Wahoo combo cadence/speed sensor in Profile #1 as well.

Thanks, again!!!

I have sucesfully paired the cadence sensor now. I only need wake up all the sensors (pairing with Edge 1000), and then enabling pairin mode in PP. The PP has detectec all.
But I have to wait to try it, I'm injured :-(

With your cadence sensor functioning you will get better results on downhills.

Yesterday I injured my right ankle, but I couldn't wait, and did a little tour today (very sort, very soft) to test the PP. Well, with te cadence sensor paired: cadence = 0 --> power = 0.
