Help with data transfer to Cycling Peaks

I'm brand new to iBike, just did my coast downs and calibration ride. Went out for a ride, and I'd like to start playing around in Cycling Peaks. I've read the posts I can find on this board which suggest doing your ride analysis in iBike2, saving the file, and then uploading into Cycling Peaks, either by "File -> Open" or dragging the file onto the open application.

The problem I'm experiencing is that when doing either of the above, I see no data whatsoever in the 9/21 file in Cycling Peaks. No Speed, no Power, no anything. I realize that I'm probably making some fairly obvious rookie mistake, but for the life of me I can't figure out what it is. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Open CP, click on file, click on open workout,... a small box should open, at the top you should see "look in", click once on the file folder icon, a drop down menu should appear, bring up your ibike ride files (mine are located in MY DOCUMENTS, so I open that folder, then click on your "ride file", what ever the file is named, then open that... near the bottom of the box. That should open the ride file in CP.

One more consideration:

WKO always starts to look for files in its own directory first (at least it does for me). So you have to navigate a tree to get to your directory. That can be convoluted depending one where you keep your iBike files. Since WKO also supports drag and drop, if you have a window open showing the contents of the iBike ride folder then you can click on your file or files, drag and drop them on to WKO. You'll select the athlete and you're done.

I use WIN XP SP2, so VISTA may be different but the drag and drop should still work.

thanks both Howard and Fernando for the posts. I'm able to find the iBike file and select it to load. The problem I have is that when I do open it in Cycling Peaks (either by File -> Open, or through drag and drop), the workout file shows up in Cycling Peaks (I see that there's a workout in the calendar), but there's no data for the analysis (power, speed, etc ). When I open the same file in Excel, there's plenty of info there, but it's not showing up in Cycling Peaks.

Just to confirm, you're using the PC version WKO+ correct? You get nothing in the graph, nothing on CP1m or any other data at all? So what shows in the calendar, the activity on the date without TSS or IF?

You're correct, a post-analysis file, loading into Cycling Peaks, which shows up in the calendar as a workout, but no TSS, no IF, no speed or power data at all. I'm including the file from the ride here. Thanks so much for your help in figuring this out!!!

You may an old version of WKO+. I loaded your file and got expected results including TSS and IF. Attached is the .wko file that you should be able to open. The latest build is v2.2 build 96.
FYI, the data I can see is power, speed, wind, altitude and slope. You must have an original wired sensor without cadence.

NOTE: Remove the .csv from the file name before trying to open it in WKO. I had to do that in order to bypass the upload restriction on this forum.

I have a new GEN III iAero wired version and I am having trouble accessing data with Cycling/Training Peaks. I downloaded the trial version of the latest Cycling Peaks software but Cycling Peaks won't automatically download the data from the iBike. I hit the Start Download but it hangs on the Polling device for information and doesn't seem to connect to the iBike. I do have it set in Cycling Peaks under the Application Settings correctly with the iBike information and COM port. Does anyone know of any limitations with the Trial version of Cycling Peaks? It is suppose to be a full version valid for 14 days.

I can open a csv file created from the iBike software but when I open the file there is ride information (miles and speed) but no power/watts information. The same is true if I drag and drop the file into Cycling Peaks.

Any ideas for these issues?

I have the latest iBike3 software and firmware for the device.

To get the power to read when opening a .csv file you first need to open the .csv file in excel and change the column name DFPM Power to anything else, save it, close the file then open it up in wko+

I vaguely remember that Training Peaks (hereinafter referred to as WKO) had trouble downloading from an iBike directly.

Try the following:
Open the iBike CSV file with Excel and go to column "L" Row 5. It should say DFPM Power.
In that same cell, type the word "BLANK", hit enter and click on save. You get the usual warning about saving as a csv file.
Save the csv file, exit Excel and do not save when asked a second time.

Now try dropping the file or opening with WKO. Either way.

FWIW, when I import my wireless data into WKO I get ALL the data fields including wind.

I just got a email from Trainingpeaks with a new build 100 to fix the no power displaying. I followed the update link within the software update link but is still showing build 99. I guess I was early or at the wrong page??

I've tried the build 100 and it works fine. Actually, I wasn't aware that it isn't posted yet--I tried the update feature and found that their latest post is 99 just like you found. I know their developer has been out of town--he did the build 100 on the road.

Confirmed and agreed on both counts. Build 96 works fine. I haven't seen anything in the newer builds that applies to improved functionality within WKO. The changes involve uploading to their web version. They're putting so much effort into the web version, I wonder if any more "real" development will ever come to WKO. Aaah...I see. I've been taking the iAero files into WKO+ mainly to look at the iAero power calculation, and since I've been running it with the CinQo, there's always power values in the DFPM column. If I want to look at how it records the CinQo data I just open the .csv file and copy the DFPM column into the power column and save the .csv to a different name...and then just drag and drop that into WKO+.

Soo...you're saying that if there's zero power values in the DFPM column, with build 100 of WKO+ the DFPM power will be ignored and the regular iAero power will be displayed in WKO+. Got it. But, if there's DFPM power values, does it just take that column? What if you want to look at the iAero values in WKO+ as well? Do you have to go in and manually erase the DFPM column and drag it in again? If so, it doesn't seem like there's been much of an improvement since Build 96...you still end up cutting and pasting columns to look at one or the other

BTW, when I used the "Check for new version" function of WKO+, it sent me to the TP site and it still only had build 99 as the latest. Do you know yet how one can get a hold of build 100? Thanks!

I had updated the 705 I'm using to that and was able synch up .tcx files from the Garmin in the iBike2 software just fine. It wasn't until I rev'd up to iBike3 that I couldn't get it to synch very well. For example, on Tues., the first half of the ride, as brought into iBike3, looks nothing like what it's supposed to...and how it looks WKO+.

Travis, if another set of ride files would help, just let me know and I'll send them along.

The problem is with the <track> flags in the TCX file. Garmin keeps changing their mind about what triggers their appearance in a TCX file. I started handling them in the parser, but then they changed the format. Anyway, the next build of iBike3 will be able to handle the issue.

In the mean time, all you have to do is open your TCX files in Notepad and search for all occurances of "</track><track>" and replace them with "" (empty string). I tried it and it works for both of your files.
