Anyone else have an issue with the wheel magnet?

Post by jazclrint »

The wheel magnet I got with my iSport is useless. Any suggestions?

You can go to your LBS and select any spoke magnet you want.

You can get rare earth magnets at Radio Shack. They are tiny (but super powerful) and I glue them right to the spoke. Work great.

I've found the problem with the supplied magnets. As mentioned in other posts I got second speed sensor to mount on my mtb. It was the same as the one that came my iSport origonally. While rummaging through my tool box I found one just like these, only it had a collar that went around the part of the body that has the threads. So what is suppose to happen (I believe) is that you slide the magnet onto a spoke, then you slide this collar over the end, and then you screw the bolt in. The collar prevents that split part of the magnet body from splaying so you can get proper tension on the bolt, and hence onto the spoke to keep it from moving. It's still a crap magnet though. I like the Sigma one I've had since 1999 I think it was. I also like Campagnolo's cadence magnet that just sits in the allen head hole of the pedal. Clean, light, and an elegant solution.

Just my 2 cents.
