Power Threshold?
Power Threshold?
I just won a month of free training with Intergate. He asked if I had a heart rate monitor. I told him better than that, I have a power meter! He then asked if I knew my power threshold. I don't. how do I use my iSport to figure that out?
Thanks,
Rich

Re: Power Threshold?
And then what. The only number I got was 1.93 watts per kilogram.

Re: Power Threshold?
1.93 x your weight in kg= threshold power
If you only know your weight in pounds, divide this figure by 2.2 to get weight in kg.
To determine your power training levels [1}
Level 1: Active Recovery, less than 55% of FTP
Level 2: Endurance, 56-75% of FTP
Level 3: Tempo, 76-90% of FTP
Level 4: Threshold, 91-105% of FTP
Level 5: VO2 max, 106-120% of FTP
Level 6: Anaerobic Capacity, 121-150% of FTP
Level 7: Neuromuscular Power, more than 150% of FTP

Re: Power Threshold?
Check the RACR screen, your FTP (threshold power) will have been set to the number you're looking for.
Here's how it works:
If you know your FTP you can manually punch it in and the w/kg and levels will automatically get set.
Or you can do the fitness test and in addition to the w/kg and levels, the actual FTP number gets set also. So the number you're looking for is in the unit already.

Re: Power Threshold?
I hate to disagree, but there is no numbers in the racer menu at all except Log hours and odometer mileage. I cannot find any ftp numbers anywhere in my unit. The only thing close is the w/kg. I did some digging, and ftp is not the w/kg*weight (in kg). You have to take that number and then multiply it by .95.

Re: Power Threshold?
I have an iAero and when I enter RACR it goes next to Est Fric > TSS > FTP CFG
I don't know if the iSport has the same menu options but I thought it did. Check your reference manual.
Since the fitness test is 20 minutes long, the resulting FTP number is already adjusted by 5%, IIRC.
Anyways as NCH1 said, your 1.93 result x your weight in kg = FTP.

This is according to the April instructions:
" If an iBike Fitness Test is performed then FTP = Average watts from 20 minute test * 0.95"

Re: Power Threshold?
OK, so what did you calculate your FTP to be? You should still be able to come up with a number for your coach.

Re: Power Threshold?
"My iSport does not have the "FTP CFG" option"
in the racer menu when you get to hours log click the down button and it will go into the Ftp Config.

Re: Power Threshold?
I did a new fit test since the last one was 3 months old. I got a rating of 1.56. So 1.56w/kg*100kg*.95 = 148 ftp.racerfern wrote:OK, so what did you calculate your FTP to be? You should still be able to come up with a number for your coach.
I apologize for wasting your guys time. I normally would have dug around in the forums more, but they are expansive, and I felt I needed an answer quickly. But as you can see, I did eventually.

Re: Power Threshold?
Excellent! Can we go back to riding our bikes and trying to raise w/kg? After all that's the real important number because there are two factors, power and weight.jazclrint wrote: I did a new fit test since the last one was 3 months old. I got a rating of 1.56. So 1.56w/kg*100kg*.95 = 148 ftp.

Re: Power Threshold?
Can you? I never stopped. Although, at this point the realization is that I really just need to drop weight, so I'm going to ignore that number for now and just make sure I don't over train.
