Bike Profile Issues

Post by briarandbrine »

Hi John,

I've been using my powerpod since 2017 and just recently recalibrated with an out and back ride. I wanted to update the profile to amend the ride I had just completed, but the power calc was far beneath the one created by the previous profile. I noticed that the Aero number was different between the profiles (I also changed the weight of me and my bike to account for wearing all my gear and my bike with two full bottles). Could you check out the profiles to let me know what's going on?

I've also attached two recent ride files--one from yesterday (my HRM was on the fritz so I disconnected it partway into the ride) and a previous ride of the same route (slightly shorter without a pair of hill repeats.)

Some info on the bike and my ride as I've set it up. I'm 72" & 182lb with all my gear on, and the bike is ~20lb with two full water bottles. I ride mostly on good smooth asphalt, 80% of flat riding on the hoods with bent elbows, 20% in the drops, and climb 100% on the tops. Tires are 25mm GP4000 tires inflated to 90psi. I wear aero/race gear, so not much flapping clothes if that affects the aero numbers.

What's going on is that your 4/18 ride has an uncalibrated profile.

Your 4/18 ride shows "empty" tilt and 1.000 WSF. These are both factory default values.

It isn't a good idea to use such long rides for Check Calibration correction.

So, what I did is extract your 4/11 ride profile, then apply it to your 4/18 ride, using the "Tools/Switch Profile After the Ride..." command.

The results are much better.

Load your 4/11 profile into your unit and you should get better results.
