Power Pod not measuring power on the flat or downhill

Post by CyclingBilly »

I have now carried out three calibration rides after three full resets. When riding, anything from down hill to a slight uphill incline shows no power output. The uphill readings seem to be reasonable when compared to previous power meters on the same route, (Speed sensor/cadence/hr sensor data is all present. The PP is on a garmin out front mount with a Garmin 1000 and the Powerpod text is set to the horizontal. I used profile 2 as a starter. When I use the 'Check Calibration' function, it gives me ridiculous numbers e.g. Power output = 4000.

Deeply deeply frustrated. Any advice would be welcome.
I attach the latest out and back file. The first section used the 0 -100 calibration. I then used the middle section to calibrate to allow for the 8 minute settling period.

P.S. There was very little wind (<1mph).

Sorry to say this but it looks like your wind sensor is not functioning. Please email technicalsupport@velocomp.com for next steps.

My newish PowerPod almost always shows zero watts on downhill runs even while I'm pedaling while normally showing non-zero on flats and climbs.

Interesting that you get readings on the flat. I managed a Personal Best 1 min 30 sec flat sprint earlier in the week and averaged 4 watts

It did make me smile but the 4000 w max calibration I mentioned above was definitely beyond my humble capabilities.
