Indoor velodrome tracking

Post by usedtobefaster »

Hi

When training on my local velodrome I've noticed a particular pattern to my results (power, cadence, speed) which has a period which is roughly half the length of the track and suggests that I'm easing off going into the corners. I'd like to be able to track these points with my position on track but GPS is non operational due to the track being indoors which makes this impossible currently.

This started me thinking would it be possible to process the tilt data from the Powerpod to create a virtual trace of the track which should show the change in slope from the straight to and through the corners and back to the straight which should have a regular period ? There's probably more than one issue with doing this but I can see that out of the saddle efforts would throw the tilt data off significantly but I would have thought it possible to identify these periods and to post process the data to substitute them with corrected data.

Thanks
Paul
