Newton Front Mount questions

Post by rstrom »

I've just purchased a few of these new front mounts (Newton Solo Front Mount). I actually thought that I was purchasing the Newton Front Mount and was surprised when they arrived.

My current mounts are the old stem mounts and the original single armed out front mount (Newton Front Mount).

My questions are:

- Is there a signifiant difference between the original K-Edge out (Newton Front Mount) front mount and the new dual mount (Newton Solo Front Mount). I'm trying to decide on whether to keep these new mounts or exchange them for the single arm Newton Front Mount.

- Regardless of which mount I end up using (Newton Front Mount or Newton Solo Front Mount) will I need to perform a recalibration when I switch from the stem mount to the new mount?

Thanks,

Robert

The solo mount is a front mount on steroids. It is the stiffest mount I have ever seen (two arms vs one arm). I personally use the solo mount, but the original Front Mount is great too.

You should do a new Cal Ride when you install your new mount. Both your tilt calibration and your wind scaling factor will be different compared to the stem mount.

John,

Thanks for the reply.

I'm still thinking about whether I want the new double armed super mount or the not so super Newton Front Mount. If I decide to go with the single armed Newton Front Mount would there be any problem exchanging what I've purchased?

Thanks,

Return it in new condition and we'll swap out for the shipping costs on the single-arm unit.

I have them all boxed up and ready for return in brand spankin' new condition.

I had already purchased one of the standard single armed Newton Front Mounts and I just mounted it on my new cyclo-cross bike and found that the iBike didn't seem to sit straight ahead. Is this normal?

I tried loosening up the center portion of the mount to see if I could possible straighten it but it is indexed so that does not appear to be possible.

I'd like to go with several more of these but I really think the fact that the iBike is not centered would drive me crazy.

How long ago did you buy your mount? The mounts we ship today don't do this.
