Tailwind error?

Post by narkose »

John,

I seem to have a problem with the way that my power readings are being generated. In the file below is a ride home from work and you will see that there is a consistent tailwind recorded that I know for a fact was not there during the ride. I had times where I had as much perceived effort of over 150W(as experienced on a Cyclops Fluid 3 with the Newton in trainer mode) but I was getting a reading of zero eg. between minutes 3 & 10 as well between minutes 21 and 34. I was not drafting despite the orange indicators.

I used to use this Newton on a triathlon bike and I think I may have recorded a CdA down on the drops and I am wondering if this is playing in to the misreadings that I am seeing/perceiving or whether there is something wrong with the wind port. I did a cal ride recently, I did a tilt calibration and a wind calibration.

So now I need help from someone who really knows the device.

Thanks,
Andrew

Your wind scaling is wrong for this bike. You have a constant tail wind.

Corrected profile and ride file are attached.

John,

Thanks for the updated profile. I am not sure what or how you did it but I appreciate. Was is something that I did when I set the Newton up or calibrated it?

I used the "Analyze/Check Calibration..." command.
