"Cad Lost" message

I frequently see the "CAD LOST" in my Newton display, and have to press the center button to remove it. The problem is that is shows everytime i ride downhill without pedalling for around 30 seconds, and not because I loose my cadence sensor connection...a bit annoying. Even more annoying ...

Re: "Do Cal" command

The only time you'll ever see the Do Cal command is when you have an uncalibrated Newton profile. An uncalibrated Newton profile has a factory-default wind scaling factor of 1.0, or a default tilt calibration number of 0. If either of these conditions exist then the "Do Cal" message will ...

"Do Cal" command

Got a bit pissed yesterday. I have two bikes. Haven't used my second bike for some time (since FW2, now i have FW4). This is the bike I use for bike races, and yesterday I went for a local street race. I mounted my Newton and turned it on and got the Fxxking "Do cal" command. 10minutes to ...

Re: Tilt Cal R.I.P.

Coast downs are among the most sensitive calibrations the Newton makes. We left Tilt Cal in the coast down section because, if someone tries a coast down but, for whatever reason, has not done a Cal Ride previously (as the instructions require), then your Newton will get really screwed up. Frankly,...

Re: Tilt Cal R.I.P.

We are about to release a new version of firmware that radically simplifies first-time setup. Tilt calibration is GONE. Button pushing is GONE. Going in to Setup is GONE. Mandatory connection to a computer is GONE. New users will attach the mount to the bike, then attach the speed/cadence sensor to...

Re: Four "Cal Wind" questions

The cal wind number is a "pressure" value. So, cool your unit down to the ambient temperature and do a cal wind offset. Don't bother doing another one until there is a significant change in the seasonal temperature. Don't worry about the changes throughout the ride. Newton handles this au...

Four "Cal Wind" questions

Questions: - The “cal wind” number is dimensionless in the Newton display. If the “cal wind” shows +2.1 , is that the same as a +2.1 km/h "offset"?...so when riding on a wind free day I will see a (false) +2.1 km/h headwind? - If the cal wind shows -4.0, but I don’t do a “cal wind” before ...

Re: Lap timer question

Even though you hold it for two seconds, the time you pressed the button is the time that is stored. The rest is just to confirm that you wanted a lap actually created. The other thing is that as long as you do the same thing every time, the laps will all have the same start and end points. Thank y...

Question to Velocomp

The lap timer has a two second "latency".
If I want to be extremely presice about the lap time, from when starts/ends a lap? Immediately when you press the button, or after two seconds?

Last week I was looking into some of my ride files. Have a few out/back rides and did some "check calibration" Every time, if I click "accept", I get the "Your tilt calibration appears to be invalid. Be sure to do another calibration before yout next ride". I normally d...
