Multiple bikes, multiple sensors, auto profile selection

Post by flahutewannabe »

I read somewhere in the documentation that a new profile created through Isaac would be automatically recognized by the device. I'm curious about what triggers that. I will be setting up a second bike, and will have multiple garmin speed sensors that I'll use on one bike. How do I make sure I'm getting appropriate readings?

Bike 1 has the new Garmin cadence sensor, and will have two wheels with their own sensors: both tubular, one with 25mm training tubs, the other 25 or 27 mm premium tubs.

Bike 2 has another Garmin cadence sensor, and will have two sets of wheels where I'll likely just move the wheel sensor. One tubular w/25mm tires, the other clinchers with either 28 or 32 mm tires.

My current bike 1 is on profile 2 configured for the 25mm training tubs. After I have another profile set up for bike 2 with one set of wheels when do I manually need to change the active profile through Isaac?

The key factor is the speed sensor. PP assumes you will have a DIFFERENT speed sensor on each bike.

If you do, then after you create profiles for each bike, PP will "tune in" to the speed sensor that is awake.

Got it; thanks. Looks like I should take a minute when I want to change wheels and swap sensors across the sets to keep the sensor/bike/PP all in sync.

That's a cheaper proposition, too  will allow me to put the third speed sensor on bike #3 (29er) or #4 (fat bike) and use my PPod with them too. I am interested in the fat bike thread and where that all ends up. Probably a good topic for a separate piece of documentation once everything is resolved.
