My numbers

Post by feltf1 »

Hi
i am new to this forum but i am using ibike since gen 1 and i am a total believer in them. When i decided to look at power meters i looked at the odvious ones and apart from their price i just couldnt get my head around the fact that they could not be moved from one bike to the other with the ease of the i bike plus the ibike is simple and its screen is straight forward. I now have the iaero gen 3 since it came out and it has been totally consistent. Just recently my FTP was 355w, i then done a 25 mile time trial on thurs 20th and done a ave of 417w at 39.3 km/h. I would not be the most aero dynamic and i also loaded up on high 5 energy stuff which they claim give a 10% gain in power. I was just wondering if those numbers sound ok for an A2 rider.

Last year I averaged 43 km/hr in a 40k... on 263W... and I'm not that aero either (CdA= .255).

My body weight was 78kg when I did that race. Are you on a TT bike? A CdA of .413 is high even for a road bike and position (mine is .335). If you can really put out 400W for an hour, that is pro-tour level... which makes me doubt it. If you have any long climbs nearby, that would be a better place to test your power, since aero drag is much less important there.

I agree with rruf - 0.413 is pretty large.

What do you get for an estimated CdA? I think the estimated values have been pretty close to what you really should get in a calibration. Unless you wear floppy shorts and a loose shirt or jacket? That can also happen if you do your calibrations on a breezy day.
