Weird Power Figures

Post by spangelsaregreat »

Hi

First full rides today with the new PowerPod V5 with a couple of commutes. This mornings ride was fine as seen in this attached ride file. Power numbers as expected. Wind was 6.3mph from the NNW (the ride is roughly easterly so slight cross tailwind).

On the ride home I again had a tail wind 11.3mph from the NE. I was doing some sprints as I rode through town. Everything was reading fine until after the 5th sprint when it started to show really high power numbers when riding between the efforts. You will see from the following ride file the wind is showing a sudden huge tailwind.

Not sure what has gone wrong here. I was going to turn the PowerPod off and on again mid ride but messed that up and put it into calibration mode. Did a quick cal ride halfway back and whilst the figures settled down they still appeared a bit high. Here is the ride file for the last bit after the calibration ride.

I have reloaded the original profile to my PowerPod V5 and will see how it performs tomorrow.

Any ideas what is going on here?

You are getting very peculiar slope spikes. Please show photos of how your unit is attached.

Make sure your unit cannot rotate at all...

Hi John

I did check the PowerPod and it did appear to be solid in the mount. Here are the pictures of it on the bike.

Also attached are todays ride files. All seemed okay in terms of power albeit the afternoon ride it felt a bit like it was over reading my power by about 20 to 30w in four Steady State efforts I did (compared to my HR but that may just be my perception).

Morning ride

Afternoon ride

These ride files are fine and do not show any of the problems of your prior rides.
