Sensor Technologies for Determining Cyclist Power Output

Post by barnabeflores »

Hi!

I stumbled across a thesis that compares results between PP, Stages and a GPS App (Innovative App Design).

You can read it here: https://spatial.usc.edu/wp-content/uplo ... ouglas.pdf

The conclusions are very positive for PP, but I think that there is a source of error that the author neglected and could close the gap between Stages and PP even more: the obvious fact that Stages is a left leg only PM...

Anyway, it is a good read for us PP owners and for Velocomp engineers :D

Best regards.

I think I read this a few years ago when it first came out.

The "3 second latency" he refers to in PowerPod is due to its internal Dynamic Power Smoothing setting. I wish the author had read our instructions!

Overall, however, he concludes what we already know...that our opposing force technology produces outstanding measurements.
