PP, Best Bike Split and indoor VS outdoor readings

Post by naavt »

Hi,

It’s been awhile since I last read from this forum. I’ve returned to ask if PP can be used to predict bike splits like Best Bike Splits do.

Since PP measures real CdA and elevation, I think this to be possible right? I also have the upgraded GPS track key installed, so probably an added bonus for this to work.

If PP can work to make predictions, what’s the best way to achieve them?

Another question that I have is indoor VS outdoor readings. I recently came from a 220 kms ride where I’ve managed 221 NP, but I find it impossible to do a 3 x 12 interval workout at 90% of 220w indoor.

Why’s that? Is my PP over reading?

Thanks!

We have not implemented any predictive features.

Please post a ride file and we will check your settings.

This looks like a group ride. If you have one, please post a solo ride. It does not have to be a long one...

Sending you the file from today's ride.

Two more things:

1. I'm seeing a slight discrepancy in the average speed, which I suspect is due to the wrong circumference in PP settings. I'm using 28s and it's been set up as 25. Changed it today when I plugged the computer to download this file. PP read 26.1 and my computer read 26.4. Can it be the wheel setting?

2. You're right about the previous file, but how can you tell it's from a group ride?

Thanks!

1. Yes, it is the wheel setting in PP. 28 has a circumference of 2135; 25 has a circumference of 2105. So, if your PP were set to 28, it would record

2135 / 2105 * 26.1 = 26.5 miles

If you have fixed this in your PP profile then your next ride should be OK.

2. I could tell your last ride was a group ride because it has a constant tailwind. This is indicative of group rides. This ride does not show constant tailwind, and your calibration looks fine.

Thank you so much John. Have a nice holiday season. Cheers.
