Powerhouse/PP pairing

Post by Mntmaniac »

I'm having trouble pairing my Powerhouse app with my PP, cadence sensor and speed sensor. I can confirm the PP has "93" in its serial #...

App simply does not sync with any of my sensors.

Thoughts, suggestions or advice?

Do you have an ANT version, or ANT/BLE?

If ANT, did you purchase the BLE key?

Please provide the serial number of your device.

Ahh, that is the issue. You do not have a PowerPod BLE. Please email technicalsupport@velocomp.com. If you purchased a PowerPod BLE provide proof of purchase and we will get you the BLE key without charge. If you did not purchase a BLE unit then you're still in luck: upgrade keys are on sale right now!

Once you have the BLE key installed you will be able to pair to the Powerhouse app.

Powerhouse vs Powerstroke apps?

Hi John,
I also have an Ant+ only PP.
Can you pleae confirm whether my PP version is indeed compatible with both Powerhouse AND Powerstroke?
I understand they are completely different softwares ' designed for use with the PP.
Currently on the PowerMeterCity website it lists Powerhouse as only compatible w a BLE version of PP; however that info is from August 2017 I think.
Many thanks,

Ok - Just checked now.

Looks like I'm missing the 'lucky 93' numbers in the PP lottery of serial number versions.
:(

1. So does that mean no-go for both Powerhouse and Powerstroke capabilities with all PPs already out there without the 'lucky 93' in their SN?

2. Do you know if any future firmware upgrades will render these PPs as capable as the 93 SN versions?

Thanks John

Your unit is PS capable, with a firmware upgrade.

BLE requires electronic components your unit is lacking, so that particular feature is a no-go for your unit. If you're interested in upgrading your unit to BLE (requires complete swap-out) please email tgore@velocomp.com for details.

Hi

I have a new powerpod, should be v.2 and BLE capable according to the sales information.
There is nothing on the pod about BLE, just Powerpod.
fw is 6.27 sn 01-18-16-08-05-02-A0-00-02-00-03-03-AB-7E-10-26

I have managed to pair a speed sensor and lezyne computer, performed a calibration ride, and receive believable power readings in the brief ride since.
What I cannot do is connect with Powerhouse on iPhone 6s.
I don't see the powerpod in the list of Bluetooth devices. If I try to do anything in powerhouse the app tells me to turn on the pod and wait for the check mark. Nothing happens.

I reset network settingson the iPhone, which includes a restart. Other bt devices are found after, the powerpod not.
I tried 2 other iphones, same thing.

Could you shed any light or offer some advice how toachieve a pairing, please?

regards

This is a very old PowerPod, pre-BLE. From where did you purchase it?

I double checked the sales slip.
It says Powerpod v2. Ant+/BLE compatible. Are all v2 BLE compatible?
The sales blurb on the site also mentions BLE feature needs a key downloaded. However, if I read your assessment of the sn right, it lacks the hardware?
Does it also therefore lack other enhancements ?

Correct. The product you were sold is not a BLE unit, and it is too old to be BLE compatible. This came out of someone's old inventory...

John
Armed with the information you gave about the sn pointing to very old model predating BLE capability, I got the store to replace it.
This one has the sn 12-14-17-08-05-0A-A0-00-02-00-93-03-AC-7E-10-03 and fw 6.27. There is no BLE logo on the case.
I see it has the magic -93- in there, so I am hoping it can be Bluetooth enabled. Do I need a key applied to unlock that?

Yes, your unit can be BLE enabled. You'll need to purchase an unlock key, available here:

It's likely that Tom has already responded to you, but in case he hasn't, here is your BLE unlock key (this key will work with your unit only!).

Unzip the file before installing it...

Sorry, somehow I sent the wrong key!

No worries, the one I sent previously won't hurt your PP in any manner.

Try the one attached

John
I began to doubt myself when there was still no change in the reported unlocked features, but Lo and behold my iPhone and powerhouse see it finally.
So now it's decided what I am doing with this bright sunny morning.

Thank you for the help

I have a PP with a serial number including -93-
12-14-17-08-05-0A-A0-00-02-00-93-03-AC-7E-10-5D

but it has no bluetooth logo on the outside.
I purchased this as a V2 - so should this already be bluetooth enabled or has the shop sold me the wrong one?

thanks

You have a BLE unit ("93" in the serial number denotes it).

Hi John, I have PowerPod - Serial No: 08-24-20-08-05-0C-B2-00-93-03-AC-7F-10-01 FW Version: 7.15
bought direct from Velocomp.
Have the Powerhouse App - obtained about 2 months ago.
Using on Trainer ( Bianchi ) & using the sensors from the Old Newton ( green / white) bought direct from Velocomp about 3 years ago.
???? no readings showing on P.H. , when paired with P.P. Do I need to buy the special magic key ???? ( I hope it is that simple)

I have still have the Old PH, on my ancient iphone and use it on the trainer - and the Old PH works. when using with the Old Newton.

I have Not tried using on my Specialized road bike, which is all geared to P.P and Garmin 530 and it's sensors only because there is
no where to hold my latest iphone.

Best regards John

I'm not 100% clear on your specific configuration, but it sounds like you are trying to use your PP with your indoor trainer.

You need to use Isaac to set your PP to indoor trainer mode. Also, you need to make sure your PP is paired to your speed sensor.

Things should work after this...
