MTB set up process with DFPM?

Post by stefun »

Hello,

I intend to use my newton 5.15 on an MTB 29".

To calibrate it in second profile, I would perform an O&B calibration, with a DFPM (P1 dual legs).

1) Could I assess the CRR of MTB tires with the "check calibration against DFPM" process?

2) Could the process of out and back calibration be done on asphalt road, and then this calibration would be valid to use the newton accuretaly on forest and mountain tracks? Maybe it could be good enough, if the DCRR soft make its job?
Or is it better to achieve the O&B calibration on a track?

3) Is the dual mount good enough to use the newton on a MTB?

Many Thanks

1) probably not, but please post a ride file and I will see if I can help you.

2) yes, your calibration process is fine

3) Yes, most certainly

Thanks for the quick reply.

First, I'll order an additional dual mount (7 days for delivery from an european dealer), then I'll achieve the O&B calibration and send you a file.

Kind regards

Hello John
I bought in december a solo front mount (really good), and did a test and calibration today, with a calibrated DFPM (dual P1).
My MTB is a scott spark RC 900 pro 2018, 29"
Tyres: tubeless (Hutchinson taipan front, cobra rear), pressure 2.2 bar. Full suspension.

Could you help me set up my profile. (height: 187 cm, weight: 77 kg, bicycle weight: 11,4 kg). There is a huge difference between newton and DFPM. Maybe it could come from Tyres CRR and CDA
In attachment: My Profile, the CAL RIDE and a little ride.
Before the cal ride I performed 15 min of ride to self calibrated the newton (FW 5.18).
Cal ride were done on good asphalt, with ideal weather conditions (no wind), and no traffic. suspensions were locked up (rear and front)
Ride after the cal ride were done on asphalt and tracks:
Lap 1: track, except first 320 meters, on good asphalt.
Lap 2: good asphalt
Lap 3: Track
Lap 4: good asphalt
Lap 5: Track
Lap 6: good asphalt
Many Thanks for your help.

Your Crr is too low. It should be around 0.0153

Use the attached profile and you will get better results.
