Right now the only way to select multiple laps in VA, to analyze them together, is to use the shift-key and select consecutive laps. But this grouping is not possible for a variety of common scenarios, like:

• Out-back testing, where the "test" lap is every other lap (so not consecutive)

• Mixing up the sequence of tests. For example, if I'm testing A vs B, I might do laps in the order A-A-B-B-A-A-B-B, in which case I can't group all 4 of each kind together

• Unusable laps in between. For example, I might encounter a lot of cars on a given lap, so I can't use it for my calculations, but there's no way to exclude it out of the grouping

As such, something like Ctrl-click selection, where you can click and select multiple laps and analyze them together, would be very useful.

Well, I asked for this feature multiple times... nothing happened. I also noted and reported that even the short turnaround laps with an N/A CdA value do influence the final Analyzed CdA result, therefore a selection of consecutive laps is a bad solution.

I like the approach - it is beginning to look like a designed experiment -(DOE)- used in many industries -

The basis is to eliminate confounding factors and to understand correlated or dependent factors. The experiments can contain several factors being varied at the same time - which can lead to a number of evaluations necessary in combination with other variables. The more difficult changes are typically grouped but randomly placed into the larger sets.

Random repeats of what you might consider as replicates allows these sets to uncover the reproducibility of a standard configuration and that can be applied to the experimental variations allowing one to assess the overall precision.

Control - A,A, - B,B, Control, - B,A, Control, -A,B, - B,B, Control, -B,A, -A,A - anyway you get the idea. Of course if this requires possible O/B calibrations, then the sequences get a bit more complex and the bookkeeping.

The short turnaround lap issue has been corrected in the latest release of VA.

Hey John, can you confirm the latest version number?

I'm on 1.0.25, but I do notice the turnaround lap discrepancy, as shown below.

These screenshots are from a test from a couple weeks ago. Laps 6, 8, and 10 have individual analyzed CdAs of 0.291, 0.295, 0.291. But when I group them (along with turnaround laps), the analyzed CdA is 0.288. This turns out to be the weighted average including the turnaround laps too (which have analyzed CdAs of 0.178 and 0.141, despite being N/A).

Also, this was on my road bike, so the numbers are very different from the other tests.
