AeroPod Missing Data Acquisition

Post by virtualdynamo »

I've been getting unrealistic DFPM values in CSV exports. It seems to happen after I've coasted for a while. My DFPM is a Favero pedal based system that also reports cadence. While I'm getting the unrealistic DFPM power readings, the cadence reported by the AeroPod is zero. The attached PNG files graphically indicate the power and cadence reported by the AeroPod diverging from the actual values as recorded by a second GPS (Edge 800). Also attached is the raw CSV export from Isaac. I'd attach the activity and Excel spreadsheet of my analysis, but FIT and XLSX files aren't allowed.

Attach the .ibr ride file

You can zip the FIT and XLSX file and post them if you wish, but the files I look at are the .ibr file

Here's the IBR.

Mea culpa. I really know better than to submit anything after 8PM. I never should have attached the Velocomp_12_09_2021_1010_10_km.CSV. When asked for the IBR the next morning, I keyed off the filename making yet another mistake.

Attached is the correct IBR with the subject dropout.

I see the cadence dropout in your .ibr file. What's odd is that DFPM data did not dropout, so this means that AP was receiving non-zero cadence data.

If this continues I would do a hard-reset of AP; I have very rarely seen this problem, so this might be a one-off.

If I understand correctly, a hard reset means to press and hold AeroPod button for approximately 10 seconds. The LED goes out and then flashes yellow once.

I do such hard reset at least once a day.

A hard reset is something that should happen only if there is some other unexplained problem.

Every time you do a hard reset you wipe-out the date/time memory in AP, and potentially lose some other calibration factors that were updated dynamically during your prior ride.

In practice hard resets should happen very, very rarely.

If you can point me to any place in the instructions where we recommend constant hard resets please let me know. Those instructions would be 100% wrong and I need to fix them as soon as possible.

Here are 5 other instances of the AP having dropouts with my DFPM. There are others, but these are the easiest ones to substantiate. Like the original instance I reported, my secondary GPS gets reasonable data from the DFPM. For the record, I'm in the habit of charging of the pedals every other day, if not, every day. Favero states, the pedals are " provided with a rechargeable battery designed to guarantee an operating time of
at least 50 hours . . ."

(I'll address the matter of hard resets and instructions in the near future, but not in this thread.)

P.S. There will be another reply immediately following with the 2 remaining files.

This is going to require some investigation.

If you have a corresponding .FIT ride file, showing cadence/power output from your DFPM, please post it and also tell me which .ibr file goes with it.

I have not seen this problem before.

Thanks. I'll take any help I can get. Here's today's activity with at least 10 dropouts.
