Pre buy questions

Post by bigjuergo »

How does AeroPod 2.0+ work?
Do I need extra powermeter?
What is the difference to powerpod?

Are there test Protocolls available that Shows the device makes sense?

Does it have to be windstill during test?

Do I have to calibrate before every use?
How does the calibration routine work?
Why is the calibration needed?

Why are there so less instructive Videos on Youtube?

Thank you!

1). AeroPod compares applied force measurements from your standard direct force power meter (crank/pedal) to opposing force measurements made by AeroPod electronics. From this comparison the CdA number is computed in real time

2) Yes, you need a conventional direct force power meter (DFPM)

3) PowerPod has different firmware. PowerPod measures cyclist power using the opposing force method, but it does not measure CdA. AeroPod measures both opposing force power and CdA (when used with a DFPM)

4) I suggest you visit postings elsewhere on our forum to get user comments regarding accuracy and consistency. In our testing we can measure CdA with a range of +/- .002

5) No, you do not have to calibrate before every use. AeroPod includes a self calibration feature for the accelerometer, and wind calibration is updated automatically when using AP for highest accuracy CdA measurement

6) A simple out-and-back calibration, which takes about 4 minutes, does the initial calibration. After that, calibration is refined automatically during each bike ride

7) There are two sensors: wind and accelerometer, which require calibration. Calibration matches the sensor performance to the physical location of AP on your bike

8). No, wind does not have to be still, but wind speeds should not be gusty during each test procedure.

9) We have various videos on YouTube; here are some:
