PowerPod V3 odd readings

Post by Makro »

Hi,

I'm a mostly happy PowerPod user for about eighteen month so far. The device was always reliable and the numbers where consistent.

Unfortunately since a few days I ran into some problems:

=> Power readings on the flats often drops to zero or for a short time very low values
=> It seems that tail or headwinds aren't taking into account
=> On climbs over 4% gradient the readings tend to be nearly as expected

It looks like a blocked windport...

What I've tried to solve the Problem so far:
Cleaning of the windport (of course) - Windport seems to be clean, no obstacles to be seen
Hard reset (as a road side hack) - no success
Complete factory reset (Isaac) - no success
New calibration - calibration process didn't work: At the first attempt the device stuck with solid yellow light. At the second attempt the light eventually turned to flashing red/green and the calibration process ran as expected but no valid cal-file was created and the behaviour was as described above.

My setup:
All sensors are connected via ANT+
Garmin SPD/CAD Sensor 2
Sensor batteries are new
PP connected to a Garmin Edge 530
PP mounted on a out front mount, windport slightly downward,
PP is runnning FW 8.01

Yesterday I've imported the old Profile and headed out for a ride (ride file attached)
In the first 60k there where some noticeable headwinds (about 3 bft)
The course profile provides some hilly segments as well as some longer flat stretches.

Any suggestions to solve the problem?

Cheers, Markus

Unfortunately there's a new problem with my PowerPod: since yesterday the button is defective.
The only way to switch the device on is to connect it to a charger.
It seems to be a hardware issue, the button is without tension.

The button is repaired, thank you very much for your great support!

Unfortunately the other problem I've described in my opening post still exist.
I've examined the windport throughly, there where no blocking objects to be found.
I've tried again to create a fresh profile and a calibration ride with no success (the LED stuck with the yellow light and didn't change to green/red blinking) .
The readings with the existing profile are still as if I would have tail wind for the entire ride.

Any suggestion what to do to solve the problem?

Hi John,

the last year my Power Pod worked fine, but since a few weeks the readings became odd again.
I've attached a ibr ride-file from a tour I've done yesterday.
The wind conditions where: light winds from south west round about 2 bft - not tailwinds the whole day as shown in the ride-file ;-)
Also high watt numbers during descents are shown.
The wind port is clean, indoor mode turned off, and the device is properly attached to the bike.

Any suggestions?
