Power Pod Setup Ride

Post by offpiste.reese »

Hi,

Attached is the file for my calibration ride. If you could take a look, I would appreciate it. Power seems to be very high. Thanks.

If you are riding off-road, I think you are OK.

If this ride was on pavement, then your rolling resistance is too high.

Let me know which one it is...

This ride was on paved roads.

On paved roads the rolling resistance is way too high. This will make watts high.

Attached is a profile that is more appropriate for your unit when riding on paved roads. Corrected ride file is attached too.

Thanks. Should I use that profile if riding mostly on dirt too? Or just let the profile as is for riding dirt? I thought I recalled Powerpod had an algorithm to detect between pavement and gravel on the fly.

I loaded the updated file and rode a mostly gravel route with some pavement too. Saw a lot of crazy numbers. Can you take a look at the attached file? Thanks.

It would be best if you did a new calibration ride. Your rides are too long, and the winds are too variable, for me to try to figure out things manually.

Also, if you do a lot of downhill riding, you should get a cadence sensor. It will help minimize false watts readings.

Should I do the calibration ride on gravel/dirt or pavement? I'll be riding both, but more gravel/dirt than pavement.

I would do the calibration on pavement; conditions are more consistent there.
