Minimum Speed

Post by luxmoggy »

Hello,
I am reading up on all the information while I wait for PowerPod to arrive. I am looking at my ride in Garmin connect. Most of my rides start with a hill climb of 160m in 3km. I am riding a FatBike so I can be slow on the hills. My minimum speed is about 5kmh (3.1 mph). Is there a way to adjust the min speed without having to buy and fit a new speed sensor and magnets (I have a Garmin speed V2 sensor). with the low speed, the cadence sensor is still giving a reading of 50 or above. Could this be used to see if I am really walking the bike?

I'm not sure what a Garmin V2 sensor is...

For these super-slow speeds you'll need to get a speed sensor that uses a magnet to actuate it. Then, you will place TWO magnets on your wheel, at approximately 180 degree difference. You will also need to use Isaac to manually adjust your wheel circumference to ½ its actual size.

If you do these things you will be able to climb hills at very slow speeds and record your ride file.

Any ANT+ speed sensor that uses a magnet should work. Your local bike shop will likely have one.

Here is the one we sell:

It should work down to about 1.5 mph; that's about ½ of a normal walking pace.

Hello
Any advice on how far axle to the rim I should install this.
In the next week I should have my PowerPod to use this.
Many Thanks

Install the magnets about ½ the distance from axle to rim (in the middle of the spoke). Make sure the two magnets are roughly 180 degrees opposed.
