PPv3 TT BIKE setup cal ride

Post by kdx200 »

HI John,

new TT bike...new setup.
The PPv3 is in front, very clear setup, no cables near...also its in the front below the aero bar extensions. great position.

Please, take a look to the power numbers. I did the cal ride and the straight to the park. Great conditions from the traffic and also the weather.

The power numebrs seemed to be a bit hight.

My cadence sensor dies some days ago so no cadence numbers for a while.

Height 1,75mts
weight 69k
bike 10k
tt position

thanks

Somehow you got your Crr set to off-road value (0.0084)

I set it to asphalt road (0.0054)

That brings your numbers back to reality!

John, tahnk you very much.

Today previous to checking this post, i TRIED to do some changes.... i realised the crr you said..and also the CDA.... was in a weird number like 0,34. Should it be near 0.25 or am i wrong? also your new file is at this number (0.34).

iam sending the new ride from today with " my " changes before the ride!

Also in the yesterday file i saw tailwind " always" and the park where it happned is a rectangle shape where it should be headwind and tailwinds. That call my attention when saw the file.

As the bike is new iam cheking the power numbers randomly and focus on my fiting and sensations on the bike. So i think the numbers are better than yesterday but relying on you ad your knowlege.

thanks

This looks good.

I did see the CdA number but did not change it. If you're riding a TT bike you number is better.

John,
why you did not touch the CDA? sorry man, but the only way to learn is to ask you.

I know (dont know if its correct or not) that the CDA is important in the "formula"... isnt it?

Another thing that atracted my attention... the negative number in tilt. Is it easy to explain to me? do it! if not, its ok.

I also tried to update the firmware but nothing... it says that its ok updated. (you told us that the new one is the 7.11). Also in the forum is not present the version you are mentioning.

thanks

I didn't touch it because I wasn't 100% you had a TT bike. Your setting is appropriate for a TT bike.

Don't worry about the tilt number. It is an internal factor that has no relevance.

You FW is fine. We have been working on FW changes that affect AeroPod primarily. Once we are through with betas we will post it for all, on Isaac.

I think you're fine.

Your HR shows you were working really hard at the end of the ride. This is confirmed by PP wattage numbers.

Aerocoach also confirms the power readings.

Hi John,
back to outside training in this new world! now they allow us to train up to 08AM so we must be at home when the sun is rising...:(
i did a new cal ride as i changed (minor i think 0.5cmts..but change) the place for the PPV3. Is that the way making a cal ride or it does not matter for this little change?

Then i rode 2 times... today was very very cold (0 C degrees) and i was very uncorfortable and the powe numbers .... mmm i think they were underrated but my body was freezing and my head trying to heat me body so i could not focus on the pp numbers,,,please take a look. Also PLEASE, see if the PP has some movement... when i pluged it to download the file i noted a slight movement.

thanks

Your PP is nicely calibrated. Assuming your weight is correct then the ride file is correct.

I don't see any movement of PP during the ride, but if it moved when you plugged in the USB cable then you might see if you can tighten it a bit more.

Where is it 37F in the middle of June? :-)

In Buenos Aires.... the winter is starting this week....
I was looking at the file and saw the winds changing to head to tail as expected... but near the end in km32 it is not doing the same pattern.. perhaps the pp moved in that place? Or the wind just changed?

Thanks

Wow...it has been 90F here in Florida!

I've learned that it's tough to judge wind while riding.

I think your ride looks fine and your wind from km32 looks good.

John,
iam analyzing my lasts rides because iam feeling low power numbers. I mean near impossible low numbers. Doing 40kmh with heart efforts and 130-140w seems low to me, or doing 35kmh with nice effort and seeing 80watts.
So i used the isaac with the function" chnage profile setup after ride" with a file you tweaked that was " perfect" . Ohhhh the power numbers are nice there and inline with my feelings. I left that file setup since i dessasmbly the bike and now did the new cal ride that is " not with my feelong/efforts" I think the place used now for the PP is the same or near the same.
The main changes are the aero and wind scaling. Can i use this tweaked by you? i found that the " wind analizing" change a lot between the cal ride and the one tweaked by you.

can you take a look please?
i attached the 2 profiles (the new cal ride and the one tweaked by you)
also i ride.

thank you very much!

I think your newer profile is close. The old, tweaked one is not.

Tweaked new profile and corrected ride file attached.

John, i used your new tweaked profile. THANKS.

Better, no doubt is better tuned. But in some places i think is showing low numbers. Pedaling at mid-high effort and showed 90w...110w. Then with the same effort (not the same place) showed a " correct" 220-240w. Like the setup is very sesnitive to the winds (any kind of winds).

Here is the today ride with freezing temps to check.

Thank you!

John,

many places.

1. the whole file has tailwinds... the park is a rectangle (about 4.9kmt) where is an obvious feeling (and flags) with tail / cross and headwinds. its strange that the file has only tails.
2. kmt 6.0 to kmt 7.9 aprox is the " fast straight" . There i saw extremely low wattage like 80 90, at the end of this straight is a little positive slope i think for about 150meters and then a hard stop for a big bump.
3 the same as above in the same straight...from 10.8 to 12,9 aprox.... 15,8 to 17,9 and so on.
4 from 14 to 14,8 or 19,2 to 19,7 or 29,1 to 29,8 are the same place in other part of the park and i think the power numbers are ok or inline with my feelings.

thank you very much!

John, additional file from today.

today was a light day (also cold with 0C) but the numbers seems to be more accurate. I use the same setup and the same place.
Again i feel low numbers in the straight like the other day but today " better" accuracy (pp numbers vs feeling)
aprox kilometers 6 to 7,8 , 10,9 to 12,6, 15,7 to 17,50 ....
as the other day, in other part of the park i felt correct numbers from pp...examples km14,40 to 15,30, 19,20 to 20,30, 24,10 to 25,10.

im using the map from google/garmin so dont know if the kmt i mentioned are perfect fitting the pp.

thank you very much!

Your PP is working perfectly but your cadence sensor is not. There are a lot of dropouts. This would cause watts to drop in short sections.

What kind of cadence sensor do you have? Where is it positioned? Has its battery been replaced?

Insert the battery backwards momentarily in the cadence sensor. That does a hard reset of the cadence sensor.
