Just re-paired my PowerPod with my cadence sensor. Also paired my Fenix 6x with my cadence and speed sensors (not the PP). Paired my Edge 830 with the cadence and speed sensors as well as the PP. All devices have latest firmware as of today.

As you can see in the attached Garmin Connect images and .fit and .ibr files, the device connected to the PowerPod is the one showing an issue (also visible in the .ibr files); the same cadence source going to a device not connected to the PP shows a normal signal.

Thanks...this is the data we needed.

What's frustrating about this problem is that we can't replicate it. I am using the same sensor setup, paired with an Edge 520. No problems...

We will find out what is going on in our firmware and get this fixed.

Happy to help. If you've got another test you'd like me to run, just let me know.

My day job Is working on a customized scanning electron microscope built by a guy at NIST who retired a couple years ago. It is, of course, broken at the moment, and there are zero sources of information I can go through to try to track down the issue (an apparent ghost current on the order of microamps somewhere in a rack full of one-of-a-kind electronics).

I feel you.

Is it possible to disable the cadence sensor in the Wireless IDs tab of the profile editor? Or is another calibration ride required to clear that out?

Tried one more thing: I disabled the cadence sensor on my Edge (to verify whether or not the PowerPod was indeed transmitting cadence). Did another lap: cadence data showed and recorded, along with the drops. So yes, the PowerPod does transmit cadence.

Do a new scan, making sure that your cadence sensor is off. You will then be able to pick up power from your PP, and cadence directly from your cadence sensor. PP will not retransmit cadence.

Could be interesting to know which garmin edge 830 firmware version you have installed?

As mentioned above, the latest, which is apparently 6.20. This also happened with 5.50. I expect if I reversed the setup (connect PP to Fenix but not Edge), I’d get the same result.

If I am not mistaken I received a 6.30 update a few days ago.

Double-checked: 6.20. Software update says no updates. Garmin's 830 forum still has 6.20 listed as the latest (released 9/14). Can't find any mention via the Googlebox of a 6.30 beta.

Pretty sure I'm all caught up.

Just to add, I’m using an edge 1030 Firmwatlre that came out late sept 20 - 10.5 I think?

Earlier this week - computer paired to cadence sensor and appears PP also paired to same sensor. Despite garmin showing connected to the sensor for cadence and despite the earlier post saying something about torque and priorities (incidentally the garmin forum post was a completely different setup so irrelevant) my Edge was overriding the Paired sensor with the PP cadence stream.

Rode this morning without PP and no drops at all. - see piccy.

So until FW fix, it seems the only way is to do a repairing for just speed sensor to PP then pair everything else to the garmin units.

I tried same cadence sensor on fenix and no issues there either.

FWIW I have the same issue but I have a wahoo cadence sensor and Garmin 530 and PP3 . I have another bike / profile with Garmin sensors and no dropouts. Exhibits the same behaviour as previously described, intermittent reducing in cadence for a few seconds to low 60.

We are in final testing of a firmware update that should fix this. Stay tuned.

We think we have this problem fixed. I will email you FW, and update will be available soon through Isaac.

Garmin and Isaac agree perfectly on cadence numbers with the new firmware. Sorted!

Thank you for the diligence on getting this worked out.
