Verification required

Post by beermat »

Hi,

I recently changed my handlebars and where the position where the PP is mounted. I did a new calibration ride but was not convinced with the results so I extracted my profile from an old ride. My understanding is that the tilt variable will be auto corrected. However, things are not looking right.

What looks odd is the wind, where it is generally all below the wheel speed in the attached ride files. Also in the 48km ride file there is an absurd power spike at the beginning which has compressed the rest of the power data so visually it appears squashed.

Can you please take a look and advise?

Thanks,

Your calibration is incorrect; you can't use your old profile when you've moved PP.

Assuming that these were solo rides, I used the 34KM ride to correct your profile, using the Analyze/Check Calibration command. Corrected profile and ride file attached.

For you 48KM ride, I deleted the beginning of the ride, where your PP was recalibrating itself, and applied your corrected profile to the remaining ride file. It looks like your wind sensor became blocked around mile 15; were you riding in rain?

Thank you for the reply.

Yes I was riding in a downpour for part of the ride.

This was actually a group ride and there was quite a bit of drafting. I will try the new profile but would you recommend a solo ride and a check calibration after?

Yes, please do a solo ride and post it.

I've performed another calibration ride and then a solo ride.

After the solo ride (attached) I performed a check calibration, however when I try to send this to the PP I get a message saying that certain values are out of range (screenshot attached).

Could you check my ride file and let me know how I can send the profile to the device?

Thanks

Your ride information looks perfect.

All that is happening here is that your PP position shifted slightly between calibration and actual ride, causing tilt correction to shift. As it so happens, the tilt correction causes, in Check Calibration, for the frictional value to become negative (which is not allowed).

There is no reason to change the profile. You have good numbers as they are; enjoy!
