Giant Ridesense - Is this the issue

Post by matyhaty »

Hi All

Ive recently got a powerpod and hooked it up to my Giant Ridesense (around 2 years old - new battery)
and Edge 1000.

Followed all instructions, it did the calibration and all seemed good.

Then for a 30km ride the power was all over the place, often reading 0w and then it would clumb up to 1000w (I wish!!)

Ive read that some say some of the Giant Sensors are pretty week, is this the likely issue?
If so, what sensors would people recommend?

Thanks in advance.

It is very likely that your sensor is sending data which is being received only intermittently. This will cause the power problems you are seeing.

Our first choice is the Garmin magnet-less speed sensor, mounted on the front hub.

I use Ride Sense on my Giant Propel. It works reasonably consistently but does suffer from the occasional drop outs of the power readings. Only for about 10 seconds or so. Also use the Garmin magnet-less sensors which work without issue (speed sensor is on the rear wheel).
