FTP setting in Isaac > Device > edit profiles

What is the effect of changing this setting? I don't understand why the PowerPod would care about that the rider's functional threshold power is

FTP setting is used in Isaac "Advanced Stats" to calculate TSS (Training Stress Score) and (IF) Intensity Factor
