Pitot Tube for Powerpod

Post by spangelsaregreat »

As I have commented previously I occasionally have issues with my PowerPod in the rain where the wind post gets blocked and the PowerPod stops working. It is also the reason I have never bothered setting the PowerPod up on the CX or MTB as the amount of muck and crud thrown up would likely lead to the same issues.

However, I see the new AeroPod has a Pitot tube which I am guessing should reduce the chances of a blocked wind port.

I was wondering if I could make a Pitot tube to fit on my Powerpod. I am guessing some form of plastic tube with a bodge of some form or other to connect it to the Powerpod. If it was fitted and suitably sealed would this work? I am assuming it would require a new Cal ride to calibrate it etc.

We actually did this when we first started AeroPod development. You can try it...if you do it correctly it will work (but it will look ugly)!

We used hot glue to attach a hollow tube taken from a pen.
