using issac softwhere

I am a new powerpod user and struggling to get the powerpod to link to isaac software ! when the powerpod is connected to my laptop usb port it fails to show as connected both within devices on the pc and also within isaac software ! any ideas anyone ? if tried on two separate pcs !
