Think my power output is too high

Post by oxenhoper »

Hi fellas

Just wondered if you could have a look at a couple of files for me please i did the out and back test on my TT bike which seemed to me fine... Today i did a 16k TT on the TT bike but this time with deep section front wheel and disc wheel rear. Looking at the power outputit looks way too high compared to what i can do on the turbo. Do i need to tweak my settings any ? Had a 18k ride to get to the start first so unit should have been settled.

Btw love the device and the ease of use.

Thanks in advance

Your data is completely normal for the first 23KM.

Something very strange happened at the 23KM mark. Can you think of what it might be?

Please post images of your PP mounted on your bike: top side and front views.

I'm concerned the wind sensor may be obstructed.

Hi John

Many thanks for your reply... photos of the powerpod attached.

As far as i can see nothing blocks the air port and the unit is mounted to a metal K edge mount with a gopro adaptor underneath with the unit pushed against the stop so no movement there ... kedge is torqued up at the bars also.

Maybe it's just a glitch

Just as a comparison on why i think numbers are off... on the TT the winner (and 5 mins faster than me) a double Olympic gold medalist in Rio avg 362w, mine for the TT was 634w and i know for a fact i can't and never will out power him.

Your PP setup looks fine.

Somehow your profile got screwed-up; your CdA is set for a cyclist riding on the hoods, and your Crr is for someone riding in sand! Both will increase watts.

Corrected profile and ride file attached.

Keep an eye on your wind values; I want to be sure these aren't too high.

Hi John...

Did a test ride today with the new TT profile you supplied and what a difference it made. No spikes in power and an even spread across the hole ride with increases in power where i thought there would be... not full out TT effort but happy with the avg 245 w. Very happy customer :D

Cheers

Hi John

Attached is a file from my last TT .. just wanted to check if everything still looks ok? you mentioned about checking wind values ? not sure how to do this.
On the road in a north direction we had a 9/10 mph headwind but that meant the 2nd and 4th legs were flyers. Anyway if you get chance would be appreciated.

TT effort starts at 22:00.

Many Thanks

Stephen
