Pairing unsuccessful after multiple attempts

OK, here goes...
I received my new PowerPod and have not been able to successfully pair it to any of my ANT+ speed sensors. I've tried now on 3 bikes, 2 with the Garmin wireless speed sensor and 1 with the GSC10 magnetic speed/cadence sensor. On each occasion, I am certain I have woken the device (I get confirmation on the Garmin Head Unit, an Edge 810) showing speed and cadence while I spin the wheels/pedals. I press and hold the PowerPod button to show flashing green. The unit flashes 5 times and then show steady red. I've watched a few Youtube videos that show the flashing for 10 - 15 seconds and have read blogs indicating that it may take 20 seconds to pair, but my unit only flashes 4 or 5 times and then immediately red.
Powered is fully charged, mounted with the combo TT mount supplied with my unit.
I've had no joy doing a factory re-set (using the Isaac software) or a hard reset (holding the power button for 15 seconds). I've cleared any profiles I loaded.
Now I'm unsure where to go from here...
