Negative elevation figure

Post by usedtobefaster »

Hi,

I've noticed recently that the elevation figure from my Powerpod data is negative, which I have been correcting through merging a GPX file from my Garmin download, but why is this happening? BTW most of my rides start only a few meters above sea level.

Not sure how you do it on the PowerPod but on the Newton the elevation will 'drift' due to climatic conditions so you need to reset it at the start of a ride.
Eg My base Alt is stored as 35m so before a ride a do a quick check of how close to that the unit thinks it is and if more than a few meters I do the 'long press' to reset it back to 35.
You can also do this post ride via Isaac by setting "known starting and ending elevation"
Once again not sure how this works on the Pod as you don't have the buttons as per the Newton

Altitude adjustment is something that is done after the ride, in Isaac.

The starting elevation is 100% dependent on the barometric pressure. The number entered in Isaac is simply a correction factor, but it has zero relevance to the accuracy of watts etc.
