Thanks John for helping me and educating me for the past 2 weeks on how to go about the PP. I knew that the PP came with a fair bit of learning curve and patience and once it is set I don't have look back again. But I never expected the support from the forum would be so professional and very helpful. You have literally troubleshooted me in each and every step of the process to get a good profile and make me know of the procedure So that if need arises I can do it myself. Such a good product always needs such a good support and you guys at velocomp have been awesome at that.

Infact the help was so good that a couple of my friends who were in double mind about the PP have gone ahead and ordered the next shipment of power pod BLE.

Thank you for all the good work. Wish you good luck in helping many others out and in your future endeavours.

Hi, John

Would like to know a bit more information.
i weighed myself today and with my bike and whole kit.looks like i am 1.5kgs lighter (with whole kit and helmet and stuff) (80kgs to 78.5kgs) than what i jotted into the profile and the bike is 3.2kgs heavier ( 8.6kg to 11.8 kgs). Because of this discrepancy will my power be not accurate?

I tried to put the same into the profile and did switch profile after the ride and my power was way low from what was reported earlier.

Here is the ride file of the solo ride on hoods for 38kms / no drafting ( with older profile u gave me)
iBike_11_01_2016_0516_38_km.ibr
(453.79 KiB) Downloaded 370 times
this is the changed profile where i changed my weight to 78.5kg and bike to 11.8 ( total 90.3)
drashkum110116.ibp
(708 Bytes) Downloaded 417 times
should the avg and max power vary?
Should i again do a OUT and Back ride on similar elevation and do check calibration?. please give me your valuable opinion

You have a lot of questions and I think you would benefit from reading the Isaac instructions, which will answer nearly all of them.

You ride mostly on the flats, where weight is less relevant (weight is important only in hill climbs and in acceleration sprints).

Sorry if I sound so nagging. I am just on the quest to accurately set the profile in PP so that I need not tweak it ever.

I did read the Isaac instructions all pages. That is why I have refrained from using the Check calibration command time and again as I can achieve ride to ride consistency as listed in the manual.

My bad that I calibrated the PP with the weight I checked last time. (Never realised I had lost 3kgs in consistent biking over time). And with the weight of the bike from the merida website. Never thought the aerobars and saddle bag and waterbottle and my puncture n tool kits would add up more than 3.2kgs on the weight.

Just that now I am riding on flat so that I get used to the PP....I do participate in individual TTs and hill climbs (occasionally).

Please do let me know if I have to do anything with the profile..else I will be happy to go with the older profile

Thank you

Personally, I would leave the profile alone. It's important to get a series of rides in where you're focused on consistent data.

Thank you

Thanks guys. The PP is working wonderfully well. Today i rode partly in solo and then started to draft a rider ad the PP shows exactly what i did. It is so wonderful to see how accurately you guys have made the device. Im loving every bit of it.
I have ordered a front garmin/ gopro combi alloy mount. Now im in two minds to dismantle the PP and remount it when i get the mount.

Keep up the good work guys

Do i need to create a new profile again and go about recalibration for the same or should i go with the already calibrated profile? would actually like to keep the existing profile safely just in case i go back to my old setting if a TT comes inbetween.

Can you help me on how to go about it please?

After 8 minutes of riding the PP will recalibrate itself.

If you'd like to post a ride file we will look at it.

Hi,
I did my first ride with front combi mount today. I setup my PP with a new profile (with all the parameters and front mount) and clicked on Best Accuracy and it asked me to do a Cal ride.

Here is the full ride file
iBike_12_07_2016_0610_16_km_HiDef.ibr
(387.83 KiB) Downloaded 369 times
It was a solo ride Out and Back with no drafting only on hoods. First part of it around 1.65kms was the Calibration ride (where power rose from 0W to 100W) after which it started to show power. The ride after the calibration ride was out and back ride too for around 14kms with no drafting solo ride with riding on hoods. The power values were predominantly on lowerside when compared to my previous rides.

I tried to do a selection around the midpoint of my second ride and chose a symmetrical elevation around it and clicked on keep selection and did a Analyse calibration and it is showing a significant change.
This is the ride file of the selection i have done from original ride
iBike_12_07_2016_0620_12_km_HiDef (2).ibr
(339.24 KiB) Downloaded 351 times
and it is showing this
analyse.JPG
analyse.JPG (102.72 KiB) Viewed 17144 times

Should i accept this change. The windscaling is 6.670. I read that the wind scaling should be around 1.7 for front combi mount in another thread in the forum? is something wrong?

please advise

I did a ride today with a self " check calibration" profile today despite it showing nearly 6.60 on windscaling ( pls see above screen shot ) and things have gone haywire. i had just done a CAL O&B yesterday and had anything changed much. i have not touched the PP and changed its orientation. Only the check calibration profile which i shared yesterday was accepted and loaded on to the PP. The PP is still on the front combi mount jutting out in the front and the word powerpod almost parallel to the ground.

There was a huge period of no power on my garmin .And after that power started to show up ( ok i thought it calibrated again) but powers were so low and no where near the previous rides i have seen and i also the power was constantly falling back to 0 and rising up now and then despite my cadence not falling to zero

Garmin says i rode 19kms and now PP says i rode only 15.6kms. this is weird. i have made sure that my cadence sensor and speed sensor is working before the ride

Can some one tell me whats going on from the ride file i have shared below? should i do a CAL ride again?

Your speed sensor is not working properly. Do you have it mounted on the front hub, as recommended?

Yes , I have it mounted on front wheel. I also make it a ritual that before i start my ride and before the garmin connect gps satellites i spin the wheel to see if my speed shows up on the garmin

i just now spun the wheel inside my home and it shows speed

Hi, Thanks for the reply. I was riding near the powergrid the other day and probably i feel the elecromagnetic interference could have messed up the garmin. I was in doubt , so i reset the whole thing and did a New cal O&B ride ( Best accuracy 2.16kms) and a 20km solo O&B ride today on the hoods with the PP on front mount. I am enclosing the file here. I even rode on the wrong side of the road on the Cal Ride and ride subsequently on the way back to get the exact matching of the elevation profile so that you can have a clear picture of it. If u still feel that there is a problem with my PP, after seeing this file i have attached, I will contact technical support. Kindly have a look at the file one last time and oblige sir, Please for my sake. Its really hard for me to ship it from india and also to financially afford another powermeter.

The power line interference explains your bizarre speed readings. ANT is known to "fail" in areas of high electromagnetic interference.

The speed readings in this ride are perfect. You just need to adjust your Wind Readings, which I did with the Analyze/Check Calibration... command.

Corrected profile and ride file are attached.

Load the profile into your PP and all should be well...as long as you stay away from the power grid!

Oh...Thank you Mr.Hamann. Some intuition told me it was because of the powergrid and each time i ride that way my garmin acts weird. Thank you for the ride file. i will do a ride again after the storm ( Vardah)gets over with the new profile and post it here for one last time

Hi,
Finally managed to get a couple of rides after the profile update you sent. I still feel the power reflected is low by 20 W avg from the previous profile which was dialed in when the PP was in handle bar mount.

These are the two ride files of the solo on hood O/B rides with PP on front combi mount i had done post profile updation

Short 25 km ride
iBike_01_04_2017_0536_25_km_HiDef.ibr
(588.16 KiB) Downloaded 271 times
Tempo ride of 38kms
iBike_01_09_2017_0523_38_km_HiDef.ibr
(750.36 KiB) Downloaded 340 times
I usually get a avg of 150-160w power in tempo rides as my ftp is 203, this was 136w avg .

So wanted to get your opinion on how things are. If u feel everything is correct i still dont want to meddle with the profile and get some consistent rides in.

Please let me know

A slightly modified profile is attached.

Please do not do any post-processing of your ride files; just send the "raw" .ibr files.

Send a few more ride files using this profile.

Hi,
As advised by you , i did a ride today with the updated profile you had sent.
It was a 38km ride out and back to same place , solo (no drafting), on hoods. It is overestimating now, I rode predominantly in zone 4 but nowhere near a ITT effort and it gave me a new FTP of 230W in 20mins and avg power of 208 W for todays ride. i have not been riding for past 1 month and my previous FTP was 203W which was on a FTP test. No way my FTP could have incresed by this much. I am enclosing un altered the ride file for you to look at
iBike_01_11_2017_0518_38_km_HiDef.ibr
(710.08 KiB) Downloaded 313 times
You can see this FTP record from my garmin screenshot below
Capture1.JPG
Capture1.JPG (29.65 KiB) Viewed 16941 times
Now there is another problem, Issac doesnt have any power and cadence data after 31kms in my ride file attached above, though i am 100% sure that i was able to see cadence and real time power in my garmin for my full ride and even the garmin has recorded the powerdata from PP for full ride
Capture 3.JPG
Capture 3.JPG (76.59 KiB) Viewed 16941 times
You can see the power data from PP and cadence from the sensor relayed to my garmin for the full ride from screenshot from my garmin connect. Any idea on why power and cadence data is not visible in the ibr?. is it because of lack of space in PP since i had not deleted previous Powerstroke incorporated Hidef files of greater than 6hrs from PP?

Do please let me know if u want me to do a ride again tomorrow and post a file here

I don't understand why your cadence dropped out; that is a mystery.

Your ride file has been analyzed; it is not the "raw" data. In the Edit/Preferences menu, make sure the "Automatically Analyze Route" box is unchecked.

Please post the unanalyzed file.
