Setup and calibrate original PowerPod on 3 bikes

Post by waketheman »

Hey there!

I bought a PowerPod (in May 2019, black with red label, I don’t think it has bluetooth, so I’m thinking it’s an original) and am just getting around to setting it up now...

I want to set it up on 3 bikes (each with it’s own speed sensor):
1. 700c road bike with 23mm tires
2. 26-inch rigid gravel bike with 2.2in tubeless knobby tires
3. 29er hardtail with 2.3in tubeless knobby tires

I haven’t updated the firmware recently, but I did buy the 4-bike upgrade.

Here are my questions:
1. The first time I set up the PowerPod for a bike, I first need to switch the active profile using Isaac, right?
2. After I’ve paired the PowerPod to a speed sensor on a bike, do I need to use Isaac to switch profiles anymore? Or can I just bring that bike outside (away from other speed sensors), and after starting up the PowerPod, will it find the speed sensor and switch profiles based on the speed sensor?
3. I’m going to calibrate it on each bike. Does the calibration ride need to be on the kind of terrain I will be riding that bike on?
4. If I’m doing calibrations for each bike, do I need to set anything in Isaac besides my weight and the weight of the bike?
5. I often ride roads on my way to mountain biking. Will riding on the road and trails in the same ride cause problems for accurately measuring power?

Thanks for your help!

The way you do this on several bikes:
1) Choose/Create a profile in Isaac and choose O&B (best precision) for calibration
2) Make this profile the active one i Isaac and send to PP
3) Pair your bike's sensors to PP (Pairing mode on PP)
4) Ride the O&B calibration ride
5) Turn off PP by pressing the button quickly 5 times (Led shows solid green->solid orange->solid red)

Repeat above steps for each bike (less than 5 bikes off course)

From now on PP will automatically change to the profile for which the current active sensors match.

PS. To be absolutely sure that PP does not see a sensor from another bike insure you are 10 meters away from any other bike sensor.
