Powerpod calibration and power numbers

Post by michalm »

Hi there,
I have been using Powerpod for just over a week now and I am hearing from my colleagues that the power data I am gettign are overestimated.
In particular, I attmpted a 2x8 min FTP test the otehr day and while I have only managed to do one half of that test I got an average power on those 8 minutes to be ca. 305 W. Now, I will not calculate my FTP from this as it was only half of the necessary test, but the range of FTP seems quite high (275 Watt-ish) for a newbie like myself. Perhaps I did something wrong with the calibration?
I attached here the calibration ride file as well as the actual ride with the 8 minute effort.
Could you please comment? Is there something off about my calibration? I am 82 kg and my bike is about 9 kg

You may be a newbie to power, but it's clear from your ride file you aren't a newbie cyclist...

Your PP is properly calibrated...all its settings look correct.

You averaged 34KM/h on a flat course, with a head wind!

I think your estimated FTP is OK, but if you can you should probably do a full 20 minute FTP test. For someone of your stamina it will be a more meaningful measurement.
