Correct procedure for recording a ride

Post by JayAy »

I've had my PowerPod for a few weeks now, calibrated and working on some rides I've done - all looking good.

On my last ride, however, nothing was recorded - no file stored in the PowerPod. During the ride power was being displayed on my Wahoo ELEMNT cycle computer. Any ideas what may have gone wrong?

Here's the procedure I use for my rides:
1. Power up cycle ELEMNT
2. Activate and check sensors are identified by the ELEMNT (sensors are heart strap, speed, cadence, eTap)
3. Press PowerPod button wait for the light to go green
4. Confirm Powerpod is detected on ELEMENT
5. Ride
6. End Ride
7. A few hours later, connect PowerePod to PC to obtain ride data (except ether wasn't any new ride data after the last ride)

Am I doing something wrong here?

Can you clarify the start procedure I should use please?

Do I need to do anything at the end of the ride to get the PowerPod to shut down properly and save the ride?

Thanks.

Hmm...if you saw data on your ELEMNT, then there should be a ride file in your PP.

Do the following:

1) Connect PP to Isaac

2) Go to Device/Download Ride Data

3) On the window that appears next, click on "Show Download Window"

4) On the window that appears next, click on the dropdown menu. This will show all your rides stored in PP

5) The ride at the bottom of the list is your most recent ride. If its date/time are not correct, download the ride anyhow.

Most likely the last ride listed is your "missing" ride. If its date/time is incorrect, you can fix this in the Tools/Repair command.

Whenever you connect your PP to Isaac, your PP internal date/time clock will be updated.

Thanks for the suggestion. Your comments got me sorted out. For whatever reason the date stamp was 01_12_2017, but I found the ride.

I've also explicitly sent the date form the PC to the PowerPod - hopefully successfully this time - next ride will tell.

One final question regarding dates. Is it possible to change the format of the date used to create the file names? I'd like to use the more logical Japanese dating system YYYY_MM_DD, which has two major benefits: numerical sorting really works, and no ambiguity about months and days confusion between US and UK/Euuropean date formats - 01_04 1st April or 4th January?

Thanks.

Yes, you can do this. In Isaac go to Edit/Edit Preferences/Ride Data/Autoname Format/Date Format. Select the naming format you want!
