Pairing BLE/Ant+ PowerPod
Pairing BLE/Ant+ PowerPod
I read in one of the other posts that the Heart Rate monitor had to be paired to the PP. I am a new user and the instructions did not say anything about that, but then again they didn't say anything about pairing the cadence sensor either but I did. If it is necessary to pair the HR sensor, how is that done?
Re: Pairing BLE/Ant+ PowerPod
Wake up your ANT+ speed, optional cadence, and optional HR strap sensors.
Once you're sure all your sensors are awake, press-hold the PowerPod button for about 4 seconds, until it starts flashing green. Once all your sensors are paired, PP will show solid green.
It is completely optional to pair your HR strap to your PowerPod.

Out-and-Back Calibration Check
I updated the Firmware to 6.21 yesterday and did an O&B calibration this morning. Would you review the ride and let me know if everything looks okay? I live in South Florida so it is pretty flat but we do have wind to deal with. The elevation where I started the O&B from is about 7' above sea level. The ride stats show the the elevation is -161. Why?? Also, prior to using PP my Garmin 520 & Cyclemeter App would calc my calories used at about twice as much as my Garmin shows using the PP. Why?? One other thing, I had never used a power meter prior to the PP and was expecting to see higher watts than what I do. Are the watts in line with what they should be?
Thank you!
Thank you!

Re: Pairing BLE/Ant+ PowerPod
Please post the ride file you did AFTER your calibration ride. That will be more useful to use in answering your questions.
Do you have a cadence sensor? If so, it is not paired to your PP. Ride your bike for about 30 seconds, then do a new pairing. That should hook your cadence sensor into your ride file.
I live in South Florida, too; I just got back from a nicely windy ride...

Re: Pairing BLE/Ant+ PowerPod
I paired the cadence sensor and it showed up in Issac under the Profile/Wireless ID's. Hope to ride in the morning.
BTW I followed you on Strava.
Thanks,

If you're watching me on Strava then you are seeing me suffer through Hunter Allen's workouts. The workouts are being directly uploaded from the Powerhouse app to Strava!

Re: Pairing BLE/Ant+ PowerPod
John,
Attached is this mornings ride. The watts were higher today than what they have been. In addition to my earlier questions, my Garmin 520 asks me to calibrate the power meter. When I select calibrate, it doesn't appear to do anything except spin a pinwheel. Should it calibrate??
Thanks,
Jim

Re: Pairing BLE/Ant+ PowerPod
The Garmin "calibrate" function applies only to conventional strain gauge power meters. It has no effect on Velocomp products...
Your ride file looks fine and I see nothing to suggest that your watts are off.

Re: Pairing BLE/Ant+ PowerPod
John,
The elevation is showing a negative elevation, is there a way to correct that?
And do the calories used look correct?
Thanks for reviewing the ride!!

Re: Pairing BLE/Ant+ PowerPod
"Wrong" elevations are due to weather changes.
You can easily correct the starting elevation of the ride in Isaac using the "Analyze/Analyze Device Settings..." command
Calories are, by definition, power added up over time. So yes, your calories are quite correct (and infinitely more accurate than your PowerCal).
