Second bike

Post by Yost »

Hi, I paired my speed/cadence sensor on my main bike on Wednesday and also hooked up the PP to Isaac on my laptop (setting profile 2 as it was to be attached to an out front mount), plus paired the PP to my Garmin. I planned to do the calibration ride via my Edge 510 yesterday. For some reason my speed/cadence sensor wasn't working so I moved onto my second bike. I paired the PP with the separate speed/cadence sensor I have for this bike, and set off on the calibration ride. It did the expected 1-100 then started giving true readings. I then hooked up to Isaac again, selected device setup and selected profile 1, handlebar mount.

I managed to sort out the issue with the sensor on my main bike, so attached the PP to this one and set off on this one. I expected to have to do the 1-100 calibration again but it didn't do this, it just started out with crazy figures before eventually settling down.

My concern now is that the PP has used the same profile for the ride on my second bike yesterday as it has on my main bike today. Or is it just because it was the first time I had used the PP on my main bike and in future it will be fine when I switch between bikes (without the erratic 8 minutes settling down period)?

Is there a way of checking on Isaac which profile is currently selected, and which profile was used for a particular ride? I just want to feel confident that the correct setups are being used each time I go out on the bike.

Cheers

Ok, just hooked up to Isaac and can see that the ride I did today on my main bike has gone against the second bike (profile 1). The ride I did yesterday on the second bike went against my main bike, i.e. they are the wrong way around!

How can I rectify this so the right bike gets the right profile?

Also, the date and time for today's ride are wrong (showing 18/08/2016), whereas for yesterday's the date/time were OK - any suggestions?

Profile selected by PP is dependent on the wireless IDs of your sensors (assuming you have different sensors on your two bikes). If PP selected the "wrong" profile it is likely because the sensors on the "wrong" bike were awake.

To get the "correct" profile in use by PP, make sure the sensors on the "wrong" bike are asleep, or move your "correct" bike at least 50 feet away from your other bike. Do NOT awaken the PP until you have taken these precautions.

Each time you connect your PP to Isaac, its internal clock is set to the correct time. If yesterday's ride had the wrong time, it is because your internal clock was not yet set by Isaac. Note that you can correct the date/time of yesterday's ride in Isaac, using the command "Tools/Repair/Fix Date & Time in Ride File"

Ok cheers. So if I awaken the sensors on my main bike, then awaken the PP, do I need to re-pair these sensors, then hook up to Isaac and name/tailor bike with profile 2? Then I do exactly the same with my second bike (but label it profile 1), a bit later once the main bike's sensors have shut down.

It does seem a bit odd, because I paired the sensor from my main bike with the PP on Wednesday evening, then set it all up on Isaac. The bike was in the house and my second bike was in the garage untouched. So not sure how in Isaac, it thinks that my main bike is my second bike.

Would it easier to do some sort of reboot and start again, assuming this is possible?

Regarding the time, this was ok yesterday but wrong today, so again not sure what happened here. It's not a huge issue, just didn't understand why it went from ok to wrong.

I assume that your PP is already set up for your "main bike"; that is, if you attach your PP to your main bike, "it just works". These instructions are intended to set up your PP on your second bike

Do the following:

1) Connect your PP to Isaac

2) Go to "Device/Set Active Profile in Newton"

3) The active profile will be shown with a radio button; this is the profile you are using on your main bike. My guess is that it is profile 1. This profile will be using the wireless IDs of your main bike

4) Click the radio button on profile 3, then click "Send to Newton". Profile 3 will be used to store information for your second bike

5) Move your second bike to at least 50 feet away from your main bike, so that there will be no sensor interference

6) Spin the wheel and crank so that your second bike sensors are awake.

7) Pair PP to your second bike

After this, your PP will be paired to your second bike using profile 3.

8) To go back to your main bike, let your PP sleep for 20 minutes, and keep your 2nd bike motionless so that its sensors go to sleep. Spin the wheels of your main bike to awaken your main bike sensors, THEN click the PP button. The light will flash green, then turn solid green after a few moments, indicating that it has selected profile 1 and that it is ready to ride.

Cheers. In the end I deleted the profiles and started again, and this sorted it out. I tried a ride today and have some concern over the figures. I will send a separate email and hopefully you can help.
