updated profile, getting wild fluctuations

So, I finally got around to going a good ride that I could use to analyze my profile. I figured this was a good idea since I did my profile calibration pretty early on in the product life cycle.
Anyway, there were changes that seemed consistent with the results I was used to getting on the unit. So I accepted and uploaded to the unit.
Then I went on a ride.
I noticed that my power seemed to fluctuate pretty drastically, not very quickly, but during apparent constant power I was seeing the power fluctuate by about 50% over the course of several screen updates. Sort of went like:
270 -> 250
250 -> 200
200 -> 145
145 -> 200
200 -> 250
250 -> 270

Yea, here is the after file.
I downloaded the before file (which is what I used for the profile analysis) at work and unfortunately my laptop went to sleep so I can't get it. I'll see about popping in there over the weekend.

Your posted ride file looks quite normal.
In Setup please check the "Set Filt" value. I use 5 (5 seconds). If your value is small, then the on-screen numbers will jump around quite a bit--because that's what happens in real life!

Just checked, it was 0.
What does the number refer to exactly? Is it averaging over some number of seconds?
I'll set to 5 and see how it looks tomorrow.

That's your problem! "0" refers to 0 seconds of filtering; you're seeing the raw watt numbers pop up!
If you're doing short interval sprints and want to see the instantaneous peaks, "0" is the way to do it. So, it makes sense to have that setting.
But for most of us, 5 seconds of filtering is a much better compromise. In fact, if you're doing long intervals, set it to 10 and things wlll be even more smooth!
No matter what setting you make in your Newton, the data stored will be the unfiltered numbers.

Yup it was much better this time. Thanks!
