Wind Cal

Post by blp »

I have done a Wind Cal inside before I ride. Before the Wind Cal, it shows readings of, say 2.4 or -1.6 for example. I press the centre button and the numbers settle at zero and the Wind Cal is "Done". After the ride, Isaac shows I had a tail wind the entire ride (would be nice wouldn't it?). I have to use the Analyze Wind in Isaac, set the Ave. Ground Wind to zero then the wind looks about right, a little head wind out and little tail wind back.

Am I doing something wrong when I set the Wind cal on the Newton?

It's important to do the Wind Cal correctly. Assuming you've done this, then your profile is incorrect.

I looked at your profile and the wind scaling factor was 0.57, pretty low. This would cause constant tail winds.

I did a Check Calibration step and got the modified profile, attached. Your WSF is now 0.97, quite reasonable.

Load this profile into your Newton and give it a try.

Thanks John. I will upload that profile.

I do the Wind Cal indoors (no wind) or if outdoors, I cup my hand over the port.Is this correct? Reading more posts, I gather that I really shouldn't need to do a wind cal after a succesful cal ride. Correct?

Thanks again.

How do I upload the .ibp file. Isaac won't open it.

Hi John;

I've atttached a ride file with the profile you provided. No post-ride adjustments applied.

If you perform an "Analyze/Check Calibration" on your ride file, you'll see that there is essentially zero correction. So, all is well!

I have to say, being able to do the analyze.check calibration of a ride is a real benefit!
